Can you get past security to eat somewhere in a resort if you have no PS?

If you don't have a reservation at a restaurant in a resort, but still wish to eat there, can you still drive there and park in the parking lot?

Do we just tell them we are planning on going to the restaurant? I forget how the security works now, it's alright to visit a resort even if you don't have a reservation and/or are staying there, correct?

We are planning on visiting Ohana's at the Polynesian but we do not have a PS, would this be a problem?

Why don't you make and ADR and be done with it, then you don't have to question if they will let you in.
You can go to a resort just to look around but you will only get maybe and hour to do so with ADR you get 3 hours.

You can still go look around a resort with a ADR or having to stay there. When the security guard asks what you are doing there, just tell them you are going to eat at XXX or just visiting the resort. I have never been asked for a reservation number when going to eat at a resort.

Mainly because the only time we can get reservations for are 9:30 PM and we don't want to eat that late. So we're just going to do standby. Looks like the second poster said it wouldn't be a problem though, thanks!

You can go in! We always displayed our SSR pass in the front window, and flashed our KTTW card at the guard, and got right in without problem!

YOu don't have to tell the guards anything, just tell them you are here to look around. You will have your parking pass in your car window, and your KTTW.

Think about it this way......if you took the monorail from the MK to the Poly, is there a guard ANYWHERE checking for ADR's or room keys.

You sure can. We have done it many times. You can always visit the resorts. We have even gone to some and ate at their counter service where you wouldn't be able to make an ADR.

Don't worry about security...just tell them you want to do some shopping. I always tell them that when I go to look around and stuff. They will give you a pass to put in your window that allows you to park for a couple of hours. They want your money so they will be happy to let you pass. Hakuna Matata!

Ok, well, let me warn you... if you're going around Christmas or some other busy time of the year, the guards at the Poly and/or GF WILL be Gestapo about it!! We were there in December one year, and we were going to eat at GF Cafe, but had no ADR. We told the guard what we wanted, and she wouldn't let us in. We pulled over, made an ADR for 15 minutes later, pulled back up to the guard booth, and she let us in.

The *only* places where we've ever had trouble (despite our DVC parking pass in the window) have been the Poly and GF. They're a bit picky in less busy times, but they're really strict when it gets close to Christmas!!

The Poly, Contemporary and GF are the toughest to access. They do not want guests using it as free parking to hop to the parks. Telling them you are going to dinner or shopping should do the trick.

No but then the point of the guard is PARKING so you would not need a guard at the monorail.

And if you are going to CR (I realize OP is going to Poly) it's not just Christmas or holidays that can cause a problem. I was told to turn around and park at TTC parking when I actually had an ADR for Concourse Steakhouse. There was a huge convention in house, and they were having trouble providing parking to the attendees, so anyone that wasn't a registered guest of CR was being turned around. I ended up cancelling the ADR, because it didn't make sense to me to park at TTC parking just for dinner.

To the OP, even if the earliest dinner ADR you can get is 9:30, I would still make it, and then show up earlier. I think you would stand a better chance of getting worked in early if you have an ADR than if you are a walk up. If they can't work you in earlier, then you can still cancel the ADR at the restaurant and you won't be any worse off than if you hadn't made it at all.

We were strolling through the lobby of the Poly last weekend and Ohana was turning away walkups. So while they will let you park with a three hour pass, you may not be able to eat at Ohana standby.

Just wanted to echo that. Ohana rarely takes standby so you may be out of luck. You might be able to get into Kona as standby, though. Its better food anyways =)
