It would appear from the info on Apple's site that my iPhone 3 isn't able to upgrade to iOS5. Is that correct? If not, has anyone here done it? How is it working for you?

I was wondering about this too and did some checking online. I don't think the iPhone 3 or 3s is upgradeable to the new OS. Too bad because I would have loved to use the new ICloud.

Anything 3GS or newer can update to iOS5. Regular 3 cannot.

We have had zero battery issues on either of our two 3GS's since updating. We love iOS5. An improvement - except I don't like the calendar: you can't add things to the calendar in the phone anymore, it only links to outside calendars like gmail, exchange, etc. I just want my old in-phone calendar like before. Aside from that it's great.

I saw this when I wanted to upgrade my iPhone 3. I went to my AT&T store and got my name on the waiting list for a 4S. I can't wait for a new one.

WHOA!!!! Excuse me! You can no longer add events to the calendar on the phone? If that's true, that would be a HUGE problem. What's the point of having the calendar on the phone if I can't use it? Can anyone else confirm this?

That's odd. I updated to iOS5 on my 3GS last night, and I'm still able to add events to calendar. Maybe you have a problem/bug in your install?

You also can't upgrade iPod Touch gen2 to iOS5. I love having an unsupported device. The biggest problem is a lot of my apps have upgraded to iOS5, so I can no longer upgrade them, either. Sync won't even load them.

That's why my DD bought a new iPod Touch gen4 last week.

That's NOT the case with me. I have an iPhone 4 and upgraded it to iOS5 and have NO issues with my calendar. It works just like it did before.

We have 3GSs. Not sure that should make a difference. But where I used to have a + in the top right on my calendar to add an event it is blank. A quick Google search tells me others are having the same problem, while others have everything duplicated.

Glad to hear it is just a bug and not actually intended. That would have been outrageously stupid.

Hopefully they'll correct it soon. That would drive me nuts.

Just one reason why I never do an upgrade when it is first released. I give them a few weeks to work out the bugs.

So do you think it is safe to upgrade yet? I was thinking about trying it today. Not sure if it has been enough time to get the bugs out.

Personally, I wouldn't, but I'd Google the message boards to see what issues are being reported. If it seems like few issues have turned up, it is probably okay. If numerous issues have surfaced, I'd wait.

That said, both DW and DD have upgraded and neither has reported any problems on an iPod Touch 4th Gen, an iPhone 3GS and an iPad 2.
