I'm doing a short stay at a value resort before moving on to the Poly next year and was wondering if you can do a two or three night DDP? And if you can answer this too, my plan is to buy a DDP package with my value stay for 2 nights, but get a 7 day park ticket, because I'll be moving on to the Poly for the end of my stay. Can you do this?

Minimum stay to add the DDP is three nights at the same resort.
You can transfer your unused park tickets days to your next resort no problem.

Okay.....so I just tried to book a 2 night stay at a value, with the DDP and a 7 day base ticket and it let me!!! Maybe the 3 night min. is just during FD?.

Not so, if you're paying for it. You can add the dining plan for one night if you want - as long as you're paying. We had the Deluxe in Jan 2009 for just 2 nights (that is all we were there - rest of time at the beach)

You're thinking of the FREE Dining - that has a 3 night minimum.

But remember that if you don't have an AP, even if you're paying, you need to buy at least a 1 day ticket at the Poly as well. Of course, you can keep that 1 day ticket to use at a later date; it never expires if unused.

Not applicable if the OP is getting a room-only reservation at the Polynesian. Ticket purchase is only required as part of a Magic Your Way package.

Thanks guys! I think this sounds good. I will not be going during free dining, and thought I'd do the dining plan my first two days so I can take advantage of the pricier character meals. Once I move on to the Poly, I will book a room only ressie, without the dining plan and eat counter service meals the rest of the trip. I am trying to cut corners to get back to WDW next year, and I promised my DD two character meals of her choice...so I figured I'd do them the first two days, and then just eat what and when we want the rest of the time. I did the DDP a few weeks back for our April vacation and it did get time consuming after a few days, because I was always tied to my ADRs. I think this will actually work out perfect.

Now one last question: I might try to catch the last flight out and arrive on check in day late, after 10 pm. Now obviously I wouldn't be using any meals on that first day of my stay. Day two I'd use one TS and one CS, and then check out on day three. Now your dining credits don't expire until midnight the day you check out, right? So I could use my dining credits at the Poly and whatever I do that day until midnight? Just checking to make sure I have all my facts straight :) Thanks again for your help!

That's correct!

Dining Plan credits expire at midnight on your check out day.

Paid DDP you can book as few nights as you want. It's the free dining promotion that has a minimum 3 night stay.
