I was going to start preparing for the holidays and freeze all my cookie doughs so that I just have to bake when I get closer and I was wondering if I can do the same with fudge because I just got a really good recipe from a friend??? Do you think it will alter the taste or anything like that???? TIA!! :sunny:

I wouldn't freeze fudge, because it will turn greyish white and look awful! You can refrigerate fudge though.
Happy Holidays!!!

DH and I are huge fudge eaters and get it every chance we get when we head down to the Jersey shore (Cape May). We always get it from Cape May Fudge Kitchen. They actually say there do not refrigerate the fudge, either to leave it out at room temp. or to freeze it. It probably has to do with the ingredients they use, what you use may be different. Good luck.

Hmm... one yes and one no :rotfl2: Guess Ill just have to try and see see..... darn that means lots of tasting ;)

We freeze our fudge every year and it stays just fine. After all how long can fudge last without being eaten?

I've frozen fudge with no problems. It's been so long that I don't remember if there was a problem with how it looked, though. If you are giving it as a gift or putting it out for company you may want to do a test batch. If it's just for the family to eat, then I say go ahead and freeze it.

mmmm....fudge!!!!!

I have been freezing fudge for years.
Never had a problem...other than DS eating it out of the freezer :rotfl:

I would think it would taste just fine to freeze it, but I would worry about it getting that whitish coating on it like the other poster mentioned. Some chocolate does this even in the fridge. I think it's something about the oils (or something like that) coming up to the surface when it gets cold.

Mine has never had bloom. (Bloom is usually from too warm or too humid).
The freezer hasn't been a problem for that.
Cool the fudge before freezing.
I usually cook, cool, refrigerate, freeze.

Our high school marching band had a fudge sale this fall and the local store that made the fudge for the fundraiser said it could be frozen and recommended putting it into two ziploc freezer bags and to get most of the air out. I did that with the fudge I got but I haven't taken it out yet because I am saving it for Christmas.

Thanks for all the help guys!! I will make all of my cookie doughs and now fudge about 2 weeks in advance and save myself the trouble of doing on Christmas eve!!! :goodvibes

I didn't know cookiei dough could be frozen! Is this true for all? I'll be outta commission for a lot of the holiday season, but if I could freeze dough my kids could still make cookies with DH!

I roll the cookie dough into a "log" that looks like the toll house ones you can buy at the store and I wrap them with wax paper and then seal them twice in freezer safe bags making sure to compress all the air out as possible. Then I defrsot in the refriderator until it is ready and then I slice them and bake them. That way I can just spend one day making all the different kinds of cookie dough ( whic I make alot) and then baking is a sinch. Its also great if I have unexpected guests through the holidays etc.

ETA I dont know if it is true for all but I have never had a problem with any.
