OK, this may sound weird, but it is a question my DH had. Are you allowed to fly a kite from the ship?

In answer to your question, no your cannot fly a kite from the ship. There is just not enough space. It could get sucked into an intake vent or caught in the ships infrastructure or who knows what else. Plus, it would be pretty dangerous if someone was to get caught in the string.

Can you fly a kite on Castaway Cay?

I think the answer here is "yes". I think this would be a really fun thing to do. Has anyone done this?

I was "wonder"ing the same thing. Found a cute Mickey/Minnie kite at Target and was thinking about taking it along for my DS.

Yep, you can fly a kite on Castaway Cay.
At least I did in October :)
I brought a big Kite shaped like an elephant and flew it for a while with no problems from any of the cast memebers.
