I'm just wondering if this is possible since it's not IN the park.

You can eat at Goofy's Kitchen without a Park ticket. You can also go to the Lilo & Stitch buffet and the character breakfact at the Grand Californian without a Park ticket.

Sure! We are eating their on our arrival night. I figure it's a great way to kick off the trip. You will have to pay for parking at the hotel (or you can get a few hours at DTD for free) if you are not a guest.

You bet! We did this past Sat. for dinner as well as a late breakfast @ Lilo & Stitch's. We didn't enter the parks at all that day.

I think that is one of the best things about the character meals in the 3 DLR hotels - you can get a big dose of the Disney magic and their yummy buffets or menus without ever going into the parks.

How long can you park @ DTD for free? 1-2 hours? Where is the parking for DTD at? On Thanksgiving day, I have to pick up a car at 1:30pm from the ALAMO on Katella. I need to 'waste' 2 hours before I head to Burbank. If I could spend a couple hours walking around DTD before heading to Burbank with free parking that would be great!! Will parking be FULL on Thanksgiving afternoon?

I swiped this off All-ears:

"The first three hours of parking are free. You can obtain an additional two free hours by getting your parking ticket validated at Downtown Disney's AMC Theatres or any of the table service restaurants. After the three free hours (five hours with validation) the cost is $6.00 for each additional hour."

Sounds like a great way to kill a few hours. Don't know about how full it would be on Thanksgiving.

WOW!! Thanks for the info & QUICK RESPONSE!!! LOL!!! The worst thing that could happen is that parking is full when I get there. How do I get to DTD Parking? Should I just follow the signs on Disney Drive? Do I just head toward DL Hotel?

Follow the signs on Disney Drive.

That happened to us once on a late shopping trip that DTD parking lot was full. They had signs for backup parking - which actually meant we got to park in the Pinocchio lot for free.

We usually go there (or one of the others) the morning we leave. Our last bit of magic before we hit the road. Goofy's has given us the BEST experience, with Grand California a close 2nd.

It can (and does) fill up on busy days. On the last night of Disney's Electrical Parade, we attempted to park in DtD. We were not even allowed to turn into the lot. It was completely blocked because it was "over full" as we were told.

We were re-directed to Mickey & Friends.
