Can you drop someone off at US/IOA and not park? Pick up later?

We are planning on going to Disney next July and DH and 2 DS's want to go to US/IOA for 2 days. We went for the first time last year. My mom and I do not want to go but we will only have 1 car. We are planning on staying at Sunset Lakes in a house (where we stayed last year). I didn't pay enough attention when we went last year while we were parking to see if there is a place you could drop someone off. We are kind of thinking of dropping the 3 guys off and then mom and I go to EP for the day and maybe MK the other. It would be a waste of money for us to go to US when we don't ride much and we were just there last year.

My question is can you drop people off somewhere and then go back later to pick them up? We all have phones. They will stay all day so it will be the evening when we come back to get them. Where would be a good place they could walk from to get into the parks if I were to drop them off?

Yes, there is a guest drop off. Just follow the signs. It will drop you off at the base of the parking garage hub.

I am not at all sure about this as I always stay on site and have never used the parking garage, but would it be faster to drop them off at The Hard Rock Hotel?

It would probably be about the same...you don't have to go into the garage to drop off or pick someone up. There is a separate area near the taxi stands you would go to.
