This came up on the iPhone collective thread but I wanted to see if I could get more responses. My wife and I each have an iPhone. On our old iMac, we COULD drag and drop files from our iTunes library onto the iPhone. Two weeks ago, we got a new iMac. I can still drag and drop files onto my iPhone but we can't onto my wife's iPhone. I posted to the collective about it and the response was that you can't drag and drop to the iPhone. I searched online and found several forums that all said the same thing: it can't be done. Since I can do it, that obviously isn't true. So can you drag and drop files to your iPhone?

If we aren't able to figure out how to drag and drop to my wife's phone, what do we need to do? I need to know how to transfer individual songs, photos, podcasts, etc.

I have never been able to drag and drop - I just "sync" to iTunes.

But good luck!!! :)

Hopefully you will get some good answers to your question! :)

I'm on a pc. I can drag and drop photos - I've done that for some time on my 3G. I've not tried music too seriously but don't think I can D&D those files. I don't need to do this as I set up playlists in iTunes for any music or video (non-podcast) I want on my iPhone.

Just quickly took a photo of me dragging and dropping (a book in this case) onto my phone in iTunes (sorry for quality of it, just quickly used my phone) :)

I couldn't (and was the one who said you couldn't) until Luke said to put it on Manual. Sure enough I dragged Bolt right over. But, every time I do something in manual it tells me it's going to erase the content on my phone so I've backed off until I back up the video/picture files.

On the dragging and dropping pics. You just do that right from your Windows folders onto the phone? Once they're there do they stay there like the camera roll or do you have to have a folder to sync to? (right now I make a separate folder for pics for the iphone to sync to)
