if you are undecided can you book 2 dinners for the same day?
im guessing you can i wouldnt think the computers are that advanced.

Not by Disney's policy. Supposedly, if a CM notices your double bookings, they may cancel your ADRs - no notice required! It's all tracked by your phone number / reservation #. All your ADRs are linked together and any CM who pulls up your info sees them all.

It's also somewhat selfish to double book because you're keeping someone else from getting an ADR they want.

oh no, i wasnt asking for me, im not indecisive at all.
it just seems to me that its odd how quickly so many restaurants fill so quickly even if the resorts arent full. then every year it seems that morning i can go to the concierge and get into some high interest restaurants on the same day. so i thought maybe people are doing this and then canceling that morning when they decide their itinerary. its good to know there is a policy.

There are people who do double book, but lately Disney has been cracking down on that and canceling double booked ADRs, so as to give more people a chance to eat in the TS restaurants. :thumbsup2

Double booking isn't that hard to do.. you simply make reservations under your cell phone number... then you let your wife makes reservations under her cell phone number... if that what you want to do... I don't really see it as that much of a problem since it doesn't keep anyone from the dinner, it just allows an additional stand by person to get in.

nah, i wouldnt do it. but then again ive been picking restaurants for a year before i book them, im an over planner. i just didnt know if people do, and its seems they do.

If a CM tries to double book you, the computer instantly deletes your first ADR. I remember the CM told us that when we were changing our ADR's and not sure if the other times were available, the CM made a point of telling me she would check first so our existing ADR doesn't cancel.

I've read on here that there are ways to do it, but it seems like more hassle than it's worth and like others have mentioned, it takes away from other people who might be trying for one of those times.

thomas998- Actually it may very well prevent a stand-by group from getting a table. If someone walks up to a restaurant check-in kiosk and asks for availability, they frequently say that they are fully booked with ADRs and are not accepting stand-bys, so they leave and look elsewhere. How does your not showing up help those folks?
Also, your double-booking prevents someone else from getting an ADR. Not very considerate in my book.

My TA was able to get a reservation on our first night at Cali Grill (I wasn't able to on my first try) and we already had a reservation at Raglan Road. When I called back a few days later to add another ADR, I asked for an update on my ressies, just to be sure that I had the times/numbers right. Sure enough, I had two ressies for that night. One for Raglan, one for Cali Grill.

Did you cancel the ADR you are not going to use?

They didn't automatically cancel my two ADR's the other day. I called back to cancel one of them - then I called back later that day to confirm that I still had the first one. I wouldn't be surprised if the system scans for duplicates periodically - and it's possible that some CM's look for the duplicate when booking the 2nd one, but not all do.

Whenever I call WDW they always reverify my home as well as the cell number. I was calling from my husband's cell and they wanted to add that as well. It's a shame that people want to double book and take up 2 reservation. Some might cancell, some might get caught and have none, but all the same many of us are trying to just get ONE! Yes, there may be some reservations available at the hotels when you arrive, maybe they are the cancelled at the last minute reservations, maybe WDW is just keeping some since it is nice to be able to eat at one of the WDW restaurants when there. I have visited WDW MANY times, only since the free dining have I had to make reservations prior to arrival! I hope the double bookings are kept under control. WDW usually asks me for the reservation number as well as my phone number, so that might be a way to stop those using my brother's, sister's and who knows phone number to double book.

ive actually never in all my years had to give my phone number when booking. i just give them my room conformation number.
i feel they will need to start building more and more restaurants or they are going to hit a wall soon with these ADRs.

I had to change ADR's yesterday and they asked for my cell phone number.

Disney cancelled my neighbors adrs on her in December. She had double booked every ts meal both breakfast and dinner.( despite my strenuous objections might i add)They cancelled one of each of the meals , she didn't know which one and the first night ended up at the restuarant disney cancelled. After she got back to her resort, she found out what got cancelled and was MAD! I had to hear for months after how much disney "ruined "her trip.

Maybe all CMs are different. When calling directly to WDW the recording always asks me to put in my 10 digit phone number. By the time you have a CS, they know basically who they are talking to. I've even had some tell me when I visited last!! This just happened on Sat. We were booking for the end of Sept and the CM told me I had just visited in May. If they had your room confirm, they did have all your past history. You may not think so, but I really think all is linked. They didn't even ask for my AP when we checked in this time! We just purchased them about 2 hours before checking in and both the CM at Guest Relations and the hotel front desk asked for the home phone. I really think the CM at the front desk already knew we had the AP. This was the first visit that the AP didn't have to be shown. Everyone can think what they want, but Disney does have a rather good system. Most likely they will continue to build new restaurants like they actually are. Two new TS in Animal Kingdom for starters.

To the poster about being able to get ADR's for places once you are there, I think people do cancel/redo once they get to WDW I know we have. Those early breakfasts don't look so good after a couple days in the parks;)

This is my experience. I called last night to see if something more desireable had come available for a couple of my days. When I found one I wanted, the first thing the CM said was now you have another place booked for dinner that evening, we'll need to cancel that as soon as we get this one for you. That was completely fine with me, I had no intention of keeping both anyway.

This is not true. No computer automatically deletes your ADR's. That can only be done by a CM. Now, if you are booking an ADR & the CM has your current ADR's open & notices a double booking you will be asked which one you want to keep and the other will be canceled. That is "if" that CM opens your other ADR's. It's not automatic.

Now with that being said, as a Disney Dining CM I can tell you how heart sick some guests are to not be able to secure an ADR at certain locations they had wanted. Just think if your double booking caused them to miss the ADR their child was dying for, for example. It's really not fair. Can it be done? Absolutely! Are the double booking easy to do? You bet, but I would hope that anyone considering it would think of others before doing so.
