Can you do this with base park tickets?

I have a 7 day stay planned with 7 day base park tickets, right now.

I've been thinking there may be two days I would like to park hop. Could I get a 9 day base park ticket and just use two days on it if I park hop each time? This would still be way cheaper than doing park hopping tickets for my length of stay.

Is this legal?

When I bought annual passes I never got tagged to come back to any park. I just reused my annual pass and park hopped all the time when I felt liked it. I didn't care there was one more day used on the pass for hopping.

They are pretty strict about it now, especially with the new system. You must have a park hopper to enter more than one park per day. You may want to look at a 2 day upgrade.

it's actually how the MYW system is designed. it's modular. a base ticket gets you 1 of the 4 main parks per day.

the park hopper, which the MYW replaced, would be like having a base ticket + park hopping + no expiration.

No you can't use to base days in one day. We saw people trying to do this on our last trip. It didn't work.

No that will not work. With a base ticket, you are only allowed into 1 park per day. You cannot use 2 days worth. It won't let you into another park. The only way around this would be to purchase a seperate single ticket at the 70+ price tag which would be just around the same price as adding park hopping to the entire 9 day ticket.

Disney has that angle all figured out, and won't allow that to happen - they want their Parkhopper $$$

From Cheshire Figment's "Everything About WDW Tickets" (sticky near top of page) about not allowing people to use an extra day on a ticket as a hopper:

You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

There is no combination of override codes that a Greeter can put into the turnstiles which will allow a Base ticket to be used in more than one park per day.

Park Hopping is a $45.00 option which can be added to any base ticket, whether adult or child, whether one day or ten days.

The PH option allows you to go to two, three, or even all four of the major parks per day. Just as a base ticket allows entry to one major park per day, as well as unlimited exits and re-entries to the same park without extra charge, there is no charge to your entitlements when you enter or reenter the second or subsequent major theme park on the same day.

It is important to remember that park hopping only involves the four major theme parks. Having a Park Hopping Ticket does not allow access to any of the minor parks.

You can't just do a 2 day upgrade. If you are going to add hopping privileges it will be for all the days on the tickets. But, you can wait to add hopping till the day you decide you really need it and just go to customer service and add it then. If you find you don't need it, you will have saved yourself some money.
