If I make an ADR for Whispering Canyon for dinner for all of us, but my 15 year old doesn't like the menu there.... can he still come with us to dinner and get a drink/dessert?? I know at buffets you can't do this but I was wondering about the family style restaurants like WCC and Ohana. I know WCC has other items on their menu so it is not like Ohana for example where I beleive I would have to pay for him there. He does not like the adult menu at WCC but everyone else does so I was either going to let him eat something at Poly before we leave and then just get a soda or dessert at WCC. The other option was to let him order the kids cheeseburger?? I know that other restaurants have let him do that before.

Any suggestions?

I can speak to WCC. My mom doesn't eat meat and pretty much had bread, corn on the cob, etc. There wasn't a whole meal she wanted. We had a great waitress, who said, why should you pay for that if you're not eating it? And she only charged her for her coffee and let her 'nibble' off our the dinners we had. Now, I'm not sure if it would depend on the wait staff, but I would think at WCC, he could just order a smaller item, or dessert if thats all he wanted.

WCC isn't a true family style place, so it's a non issue there. They are a regular service restaurant that offers one AYCE item.

You'll be fine. :goodvibes

If he can't find anything to eat there is always the all-you-can-drink milkshakes. :yay::jumping3::sick:

The "SKillet" is only a menu item. It's not manditory that you get that item. There are other items such as steaks and burgers and other things.

Ohana, however, is a fixed menu family style restaurant (althought WCC is not). You are correct in thinking that your son just sits at the table there he will still be charged the full price. Ohana has some "alternative" kids meals but you will still pay the adult price for your teenage son even if you ask for the "alternative" kids meal for him.

If some of you order the all you can eat skillet at WCC, you can't share any of it with someone who didn't order it (the exception is kids under 3)

Thanks....yeah he wouldn't want the skillet at WCC that is for sure. :goodvibes If they had a burger on the dinner menu he would get that however I don't see that listed but it is on the kids menu.

The other PPs are right. There's a pretty good selection on the menu at WCC. You're not going to get charged for a skillet for him unless he eats off of it.

When we were there in September we ate at WCC and my 12 year old is a very picky eater. He ordered a burger off the lunch menu and the rest of us ordered the skillet.

Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger - Topped with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, and tomato served with grilled veggie pasta salad or French fries. - $12.99

He of course got it without any veggies on it and did great. He loved the atmosphere and the bottomless shakes as well.

Did you eat there at lunch though or dinner?? If they let him get the burger then that would be great....we are going for dinner though.

YAY...then that makes me feel better.

I was thinking if they could make a kids cheeseburger then maybe they could make a regular one. :goodvibes

We ate at several different restaurants that were more than happy to bend the menu enough to find something my son would eat. He did eat a lot of mac and cheese, adult pasta bowl serving sized, but that was due to his choice. I just asked if my son could see the child menu as he didn't seem to like the items on the adult menu. They would then also say, if he likes chicken we could do a grilled chicken and a side of mac and cheese etc... Very helpful and made sure he had something. I didn't care about the credit as we actually had 4 meals left at the end of our stay that we were not going to use.
