Is there a place to check availability online for Disney Vacation Club Resorts in Disneyworld, or do you need to call member services each time for that?

Must call. You can submit a reservation request via the member website but it's not an online reservation system.

You need to call Member Services to check availability for points. Unless you just want to book for cash via Central Reservations (not members discount), then you call CR.
