You certainly can!
Weve used a huge Rubbermaid trunk for most every cruise since our son was born. At first, we used it for diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, juice, toys, blankets, etc. After he made toddler age, we still fill it with his stuff, but with our things as well. (My brother followed suit the last time and loaded his down with cases of special beveragesand was sure to tipped well for the extra weight.)
To secure itas the tiny clasps will never keep it from openingwe wrapped it on each side all the way around with tape several times and then made a handle on top between the two bands. On this we attached our baggage tag and were ready to go. Once in the cabin it fit nicely in the floor of the closest and worked great for worn clothes. Upon departure, (or if they wanted to open it to check its contents) we kept a roll of tape in our other bags to tape it up again. Its not glamorous, but it solved all the bulky stuff problemsespecially those associated with baby/toddler travel. It even held the baby-backpack for shore excursions!
Good Luck!
