Can you change a tire?

I can and I have! My dad made sure I could change a tire before he let me start driving. Now I have been lucky enough to have help most times and AAA is only a phone call away. By the time I call them and they show up however I can have that baby changed and be back on the road.

Shannon, it's funny you mentioned this because I was upset with my DH last night for not being properly dressed for the frigid temps and I was giving him the "what if we have a flat tire" speech. He looked at my calmly and said at least he (unlike me) COULD fix it!!! :)

I have (or the memories of being a kid with some of those cars back then  ) but like many, have AAA now. It is wise for everyone though, to at least know how to change one, and safely too.

No! I had one about 3 weeks ago and called the auto club whose membership I apprently did not renew. They were nice enough to call a tow truck and off to Sears we went.

I can certainly change a wheel - but I don't have the equipment to change a tyre :)

*knocks on wood* I've never had to change a flat tire. My DH (then boyfriend) did teach me the summer before I left for college, so I think I could manage.

Like Bobcat, my dad made sure I knew how to change a tire, jump start the car, pump gas, and check and add fluids/oil. He also taught me to drive a standard as well as an automatic.

LOL @ anniet :teeth:

I never had a flat tire and I don't think i would be able to change a flat. So knock on wood i never get a flat.

Done it too many times to count. It's not too bad as long as the lug nuts aren't too tight. Unless it has been changed, changing a tire was part of Driver's Ed in High School here in Texas.

I've seen it done, but I am not sure if I could or not since I have never tried.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

I could if I had to. When I bought my first car my Dad made me change the tire before I could drive it.

I do carry a cell phone though so I hope I never have to change one:)

I can change a tire and have changed quite a few in my time....

Seriously, this is something everyone who is physically capable of doing should know how to do. If you have never changed a tire, or aren't sure how to do it, now is the time to practice..before you get a flat. Get with your spouse or, someone who knows how, and have them teach you. Changing a tire takes five to ten minutes if you know how and might just be preferable to waiting an hour or more for AAA.

I do not want to. That is why I pay $73 a year for AAA Plus service. I get in trouble and just call AAA.

GP.... ;)

Of course I can change a tire Shannon! Weren't you ever a Girl Scout?:) :) :) I know how to use jumper cables too! But I have to confess....I would much rather roadside assistance change the tire for me!!! I CAN change it...didn't say I LIKED it!!!:)

debster you're one up on me. No matter how many times I tried I could never learn to drive a standard. If I had to in an emergency I bet I could but I would stall quite a few times.

No, I’ve never had to. If the tire is just flat, I have a compressor and Fix A Flat. If that wouldn’t work, then I’d call AAA on my cell. I might be able to change one if I had to, but I hope I never do.
