Can you celebrate your anniversary not on your anniversary date?

DH and I have our 5 year anniversary this May! Yay!* DH wants to take a mini-trip somewhere like a zoo (we love animals) or just away for the weekend type of thing. However we are hoping to go to Disney in December and I would rather save money to put towards our Disney trip.*

I thought we could even celebrate our anniversary while we are there!* Putting Anniversary if they ask if we are celebrating anything in dinner reservations and room reservations.

However its not our actual anniversary date...I guess I feel like I'm 'lying' or wrong somehow.**

Has anyone else celebrated an anniversary or birthday on not the actual date?*

Thanks in advance :)

It is perfectly acceptable, you are technically celebrating your anniversary on your trip so it's cool and totally not lying :thumbsup2

DW and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary a few months after the actual date because I booked a trip during Food & Wine as an anniversary gift for my DW :goodvibes

My DW and I are going in December, and will be celebrating our 25th. Our actual anniversary is in May. Disney has no problems with when you celebrate!:thumbsup2

Our anniversary is in September but we are celebrating at WDW in December. Go for it!

DW and I have taken DCLs in Jan and May for our Feb anniversaries.

Thanks for all the replies. I know its a silly question. I just felt dishonest. Lol
I can't wait!

:yay:Disney is great about celebrations. 2 years ago we had 3 couples celebrating anniversaries [33yrs - 3yrs & 1yr] plus a birthday! And only the 2 newly weds have October dates!

In 2010, we celebrated our 7th anniversary on the actual day, Dec. 13th in WDW. We were there Dec. 10th - 17th. Many CMs asked us if this was a delayed celebration.....because so many people do that. So they were surprised when we said, 'No, we actually got married in December.'

Not everyone can, or wants to, schedule a vacation around their actual anniversary. I think Disney gets that, and that's why CMs are so understanding, and will treat you the same....as though you are celebrating on the actual date.

I can vouch for that too. In 2007 we went out to WDW in October. Figured since it was so close to our actual anniversary, that we'd celebrate it while we were there. I listed 'anniversary' on one of our ADRs. Same treatment as our 2010 trip! :cloud9:

Not saying you are doing anything wrong but got a question.

Would you tell your local restaurant its your birthday 2 months after your birthday?

I personally wouldn't feel right, I would know its my anniversary but wouldn't be spreading the word about it and surely not out right saying it.

I would feel better about putting down that we are on our belated anniversary trip. Just my 2 cents and again out of all the things that are going on in the world not the biggest issue that someone would worry about.

We are celebrating our 15th anniversary two days after the fact and my 40th birthday 5 months after the fact! Can't wait!!!!

We've celebrated anniversaries at WDW & Disney cruise line usually with in a week or two. Have never done birthdays, just doesn't right to me. Plus the cruise line has seen our passports numerous times, which lists our B-Days. :scared1:

Our Anniversary is May 16th but we are going April 19th-25th.... No PROBLEM! I went at the end of February to celebrate my 30th birthday with my dad and step mom and it wasn't an issue either. Disney is MADE to celebrate, being there is a celebration, RIGHT!?

:love::lovestruc::yay::woohoo::cheer2::welcome:

Not a problem! When they asked us in January if there were any other celebrations listed my mom said her birthday was in a month. They asked if she would be back before her birthday and she said no. They then gave her a button and said well its time to celebrate. Enjoy!

We went on our honeymoon two months after we married because it worked out better with our school schedules. We had our vow renewal in May even though we married in September because I wanted to be a spring bride. It's not like a birthday where you may be getting something free and they want proof. You are celebrating your anniversary just not on the exact date.

Last year we celebrated our aniversary a month later. We got our aniversary buttons and celebrated with a nice dinner at Citricos. Disney celebrate their aniversaries for years at a time, why not celebrate with a month or two of difference? Hope you have a great time!

Absolutely! We even got the Anniversary pins at Magic Kingdom and the CM wrote "10 years" with a Mickey head on it :lovestruc Hubby was being a spoil sport by not wearing his pin but I had it on my backpack and had random people say "Happy Anniversary!" LOVED IT! :thumbsup2

No one has ever questioned us at WDW, but when we went to vegas for our 2nd anniversary, we were asked for proof. (we got an awesome 2 room suite upgrade for pennies.)

We always travel over our dates, if possible. The only exception was when we went on an alaskan cruise....it was not offered in Oct....

I would only say I was celebrating my anniversary, and it was not my anniversary, if the place I wanted to visit was not available on my exact date...(like my cruise above.)

We went on a disney two night cruise out of NYC, and it did not sail from NYC over my birthday so I felt comfortable saying we were celebrating...but nothing was done for me.

I would never say I was celebrating my July birthday in october, or my hubby's january birthday, it just does not feel right to me...but since my oct 12 anniversary is right in the middle of our trip - I will be celebrating!!!

(I've been a silent observer to the boards for a time...Hi!)
