can you buy the dining plan if camping at a campsite?

i know that when they have had the free dining promos, you could not get that promo package if you were camping at a campsite (you could if you were renting a cabin, but not a campsite.)

I am wondering, can i purchase the dining plan if we are camping at a campsite?

also, - do you have to buy LOS tickets to purchase the dining plan if you are camping or can you buy the dining plan independant of your park ticktes? (use our APs and buy the dining plan)

You can do a dining plan with a campsite (I'd asked about that recently). It needs to be on a package, which would mean buying at least a 1 day base ticket.

We did this a couple of years ago and it was great.

IMHO, the only drawback to the dining plan while staying at FTW is that there is no counter service option on property. The buffet is considered a table meal. Not a big deal - we just took a boat over to Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary for counter service meals.

Buying the one day ticket is not a big deal really either because you can then use that one day ticket to offset the cost of next year's AP.

However, if you do get the dining plan, then the only discount you could really get on the campsite is AAA.

Then you would have to actually book your reservation through AAA for the package.

Getting an AP rate on the campsite and purchasing the DDE card may be the better deal for you.

We've purchased the dining plan with the AAA discount and currently have the same booked for December with 1 day base tickets. No APs here, but if a better offer comes along, we'll change it with our AAA agent. She's very nice.

Even with just the AAA discount it can still be a good deal, depending on your family size & ages.

OP here - great suggestion. have AP rates for early Aug come out yet? i fogot all about the DDE card. we had one two years ago and yes, it did save us quite a bit.
