When you are at WDW and go to the dvc tour, can you ask to buy into the other resorts not just the ones they try to sell you i.e bay lake tower and akl ?
I know that you can through resale but if you want to go through disney i wondered if it was possible. I have emailed them at the dvc website but have heard nothing as of yet !

yes, they usually have an inventory of points from the older resorts (it's what they sell current owners who want "add-on contracts").

but 1) they don't offer incentives for older resorts and the prices tend to be higher than resale pricing and 2) the guides are more motivated to sell BLT/AKV, so you may have to make clear that you are only interested in VWL or whatever.

here is an unofficial link to direct pricing for all the resorts.

Definitely....that is what we did. At the time SSR was being sold but we knew we wanted either BWV or BCV. Surprisingly Disney had points for the BWV and we never looked back. Our family loves the resort and the Boardwalk area. So every time we plan a trip I ask the DW do you want to stay at a different resort she says "no way"......

I did the same thing browniemtb did. I went to the tour, told the guide 'I only want to buy at BWV,' (they were only selling SSR at that point) and that was that. Never regretted it!

I agree with the pricing. I almost choked when I heard what my in-laws paid per point. However, with their points, they got '08 points, '09 points and a week later picked up their '10 points. So the fact that they got 2 years worth of points, it made it an okay deal.

And they bought at Doorway to Dreams and demanded BWV. *When* they add-on, I've suggested that if they can't get the same UY, to choose a different resort (probably BCV or BLT).

I was looking at the unofficial link you provided and wondering why one of the incentives is a $5 off per point if the purchaser sells back 2009 points? Why is Disney doing this?

it saves you a little money and disney can take the pts you sell back and make a reservation to rent out to make some money for themselves. everybody wins (and disney probably wins a little more.)
