Can you bring your own folding chair to the resort?

I am so excited that we are staying at Poly for part of our trip. Our first time there. We are going during summer vacation. I always hear how crowded the pool can get and that there is no chairs available. I am wondering if I can bring my own chair? I am thinking of getting a cab and go to the nearest store and purchase a cheap lounge chair. I just need one to put our stuff on and also if I want to just watch the kids, I can watch them from my chair.

Has anyone done this? Or is this kind of tacky? I think I'd rather look odd than not have a place to sit and put our stuff on. Does the resorts allow this? TIA!! ::MinnieMo

Good question! I have several of those chairs that fold up into their own bag and it never occured to me to bring it. I'm willing to risk looking odd also. Looking forward to responses :) Though I could see a conflict if someone took your stuff off your chairs or snagged them for themselves.

I have read in the Unofficial Guide that some people who are staying in the mods bring these chairs to sit outside their room. I would think especially if you have a waterview that might be nice.

I just thought of something! The folding camping chair! My kids have the small ones, and I know it will fit just fine in our luggages! And I know I fit in it. It's light. Now, if someone dares to move our stuff off the chair or chairs to use it, got the nerve!

Just curious... has anyone done this before?

I have been there at the busiest of times and still have found chairs or tables. Maybe not the best spot.... but you can usually at least find one. I did a few times just layed out our beach towels on the cement and when noticed a prime spot opening we moved, Or someone came and said we are about to leave if you guys want the chairs. You can usually always find a lounger at the beach area at least, and pull it closer. There really are alot of chairs, I hate to think we have to start bringing that too. Must be why we prefer the "quiet" pool always alot of chairs there.

I can't imagine why any other guests would look twice if you had your own chair, unless they were jealous! As far as resort rules, you'll need to check with the resort.

While I've never stayed at the Poly, I really wouldn't want to be bothered bringing my own chair, unless there was some medical reason why you needed a specific support or something. At all of the resorts I have been to at WDW, getting a chair was never a problem. the only thing that sometimes happens is that people leave their towels on the chairs after they leave...making it look like they are still using the chairs, but mouse keeping is pretty good about clearing these out periodically. Disney is not some ghetto hotel...it is a classy place - they take care of you. Let them. That's what you pay them to do. Worse case scenario, tell a CM that you need a chair; they will help you.
