Can you bring cheese on the plane?

We spend a fortune each week on Stilton, Double Gloucester, Five Counties and the most expensive of all Mango Ginger. We have company flying over next week, can they bring us cheese without having it confiscated by customs?

Not sure where you are but if its the States, I didn't think anyone could take in perishables.

When I fly from UK back to the Middle East, I always bring in bacon, sausages and other meats but they are vacum packed and always in the hold luggage. We even take Aberdeen butteries.

Rowies? They are certainly an aquired taste, not a fan myself, but my Aberdonian friend keeps sending recipes for them to her friends in Australia, not sure how successful they are to make yourself.

As for the original question, I would assume that you can't take any dairy products through customs.

My pal made them here and she invited me round to try them. She is not a baker and would have cracked the floor if she had dropped them.

Just the thought of them is making me feel a bit ill, but I guess the taste of home is nice when you live abroad.

You can only bring dairy products into UK from other EU countries.

I'm making the assumption that you're in the US and that you want to bring cheese back from the UK. Hard, fully-cured cheeses are permissible, but you do need to declare them on your customs form. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they'd want to inspect it, so it could cause a delay.

Yes, we are in the US and her daughter is coming over next week. 3 of the 4 cheeses mentioned come in sealed packages with labels on them. The mango ginger is usually broken up into smaller chunks by the folks at the store and sold in smaller pieces at about $22 us/lb. My wife eats it like candy.
