Can you book a specific bed configuration at GC?

I am looking at the GC for our late August trip and wondering if you can specify specific bed types. It is kind of confusing looking at the website and does not look like you can do it. But what if you want bunks or the daybed with trundle? It does not make sense to me that they want you to pay $500+ per night and you don't get to decide what bed situation works best for your family.

Thanks!

When you book online, you can enter requests in the text field, but I would call and speak in person to someone and have them add that to your reservation.

And although they probably do their best to accomodate requests, I assume there are situations when they can't honor them all. The $500+ per night is just because others are willing to pay that.

Just make the request when you make your reservation. I did and called a month prior to our trip to confirm. They said they give bunk bed preference to families with children under 10. My kids are 4 and 8 and we got a bunk bed room.

That's one of the things I don't like about the Grand. If we don't reserve a suite then we end up with someone in a sleeping bag on the floor and I'd rather walk the few extra minutes to DLH to avoid that situation (I know the daybed is not a guarantee at DLH but with more of them your chances are better).

You can make your request online, then call about 2 days before to re-iterate. They assign the rooms the morning of, so you may want to call 6am the day of as well. You can request NO bunk beds with a guarantee if you let them know your kids are under 6yrs old. @Nonsuch has a great map of room configurations and room numbers so you can request a specific room #.
Enjoy!

I think this is the map she was discussing.

I have to admit I do find it odd that Disney lets you book the various room categories (which tend to refer to location or view), but not bed type/room configuration. Every other hotel company lets you book a room in the specific bed configuration you want, and if the one you want isn't available then at least you know at booking and can choose to accept something less-than-optimal or look elsewhere. Software-wise, the capability obviously exists. So I do wonder why Disney makes this something that adds stress to vacation planning all the way up to check-in?

The Disney software already supports bed selection:
If "Accessable Room" is selected, specific bed types and other features are displayed.

Limiting bed selection for "regular" rooms allows easier room assignment, which is particularly important with the DLR hotels close to 100% occupancy. More convienient for Disney, not for the guest.

Thanks so much for all your responses! I do find it really unfortunate that Disney does not allow you to book specific bed configurations. Hotels that charge $59 a night let you choose so why not a room that is $500+ per night?

After working in a hotel previously now MOST it's still a request not a gurantee if you read far enough. The reason being is because it's difficult to full sell a property if everyone books the one room type , eventually leading to half booked properties. Most hotels overbook for this reason because there are typically 10% of reservations or more that are cancelled same day or day before. Because they don't gurantee room types it allows flexibility for upgrades , reassignments , etc.
Often when people book rooms they don't even change the number of guests as it defaults at "1" . When we would see this we would assign them to a different room type but then upon arrival they have four people , and it makes things harder but now that not everything is guaranteed we can try to make things work.

Some exceptions are loyalty programs like Marriott where depending on status we will make sure excluding unforeseen circumstances your bed type is met.

As stated making your request known early then again about 3-4 days out is best. Even at check in it's fine to bring up , just try to express it in a nice way - "We are really hoping to get a bunk bed room because my kids are aged x and y " , rather than " You better make sure we have the room we want" . Obviously if you feel the agent or CM isn't listening to your concerns you should always feel confortable asking for the manager on duty.
