Hi, we are currently in the process of buying through resale. Hoping to have everything go through in time & be able to use our newly aquired points for our Aug/Sep trip (if not I have back up reservatons in place, but fingers crossed). Anyway I have just added my points chart (by the way I am using the 2004 figures for SSR so don't know if that has changed this year) & we are only 1 measly point short of what we need. We will be using 300 & need to have 301! Has this ever happened to anyone else? How did you work it out? Do MS ever take pity on you & waive that one point? This will be our first time using DVC so I am not too sure of what the correct procedure would be for this. Thanks!

Aussiemickeys,

The exact same thing just happened to us. We went through a resale and there were points in "reservation status" for a trip this summer. (we are banking this year for a larger vacation next year)

I posted in the rent/trade board, thinking perhaps I could transfer 1 point from a DVC'er who had extra. I also wonder if we can just borrow from next year's points, which I think we can do.

I will keep you posted if I find anything out.

Thanks for the quick replies so far. I'm sorry, I should have said that this allready includes all the points we are able to borrow from next year!

a one point transfer is what you need...but to make it worth somebodie while you might need to transfer one nights worth...or have them make you a 1 night ressie..I would prefer a transfer as then you would have control...

Yeah - major bummer!

Unless you can find someone to transfer you one point (as soon as you have an account you can accept a transfer), your only other option is to pay cash for one night.

At the risk of being branded a heretic, this might be an opportunity to spend a day or two off site enjoying some of the other attractions in the area. Three years ago, my DH & I stayed off site for the first two nights of our trip (due to good airfare - savings more than paid for the 2 extra hotel nights and rental car days. DVC was totally full and we couldn't get anything on site for a resaonable rate). Anyway, we went to Cypress Gardens (just before it closed), and Bok Tower Gardens. Thinking bout doing the same this year - we've never been to Islands of Adventure and it's been a long time since we've been in the Universtal area.

Just a thought -

G'day to you!

Click on this link

and download Caskill's magical DVC Planning tool. It's free and it's a great tool. So easy that even I can use it, and you won't miscalculate points ever again.

The next one I'm anxiously waiting for is his point manager to keep track of all those pesky little details of managing our account.

For one point I bet someone who doesn't care otherwise will just give it to you. If I had any points that would transfer for that time, I'd do it.

We own 1000 points and we are 3 points shy of completing a reservation... it happens to all of us.

If you havent checked your PM's recently, keep checking back. I am hopeful some DISer will contact you offering up a point.

And I second downloading Caskbil's planner. It is a wonderful tool.

Thanks everyone, hadn't even thought about anyone transferring a point to us - that would be great if it happens. Gee I hope I haven't put the mocker on myself now as we haven't even got through the ROFR process yet!

Same thing's going to happen to us! One stinkin' point!

We're planning to borrow from next year's points.

I will be happy to give you 1 point!!! I did this once before, but I am not sure if I remember how --- I think I need to call and transfer to your account. :goodvibes

Very nice gesture.....

I agree - a lovely & unexpected response. I am going to do this for someone else the first chance I get in the future! I love how, from all the way over here in a small country town in Australia, that you can feel part of a group of people that simply love all things Disney & try to help & look out for each other. Thanks again to all (& oh yeh, please keep your fingers & toes crossed that we pass ROFR & all the paperwork gets processed quickly).

If DVC will allow a borrowed point to be transfers, they will in some situations, I could do it was well.
