Can you add the dining plan to a room only offer?

Yes, I believe you can. You can just call and they can add it. I recommend getting your reservations in early if you need them. Have a great trip.

Yes, you can still pay for the dining plan on a room only offer, but you need to do it 72 hrs before your trip.

I was wondering if we have to add it before our trip, thanks!

We have our ADRs already but I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth it just paying for the dining plan instead of OOP. Does the regular dining plan include desserts with each meal, TS & QS?

If it's a room only reservation adding the dining plan will make it a package which is subject to a different deposit ($200), final payment date and cancellation fees. Your room only res will have to be cancelled and the first night deposit will be refunded. You will have to make a new package reservation, but hopefully there are rooms still available with the room rate discount.

If you already have a package (room rate discount and tickets) it will be easier to add a dining plan. It needs to be done no later than 3 days before arrival and will be based on the number of nights you'll be staying at the resort.

Yes...... With the regular dining plan you get a drink, entree (and what ever sides come with it like frech fries or veggies) and dessert with lunch and dinner at CS and TS.....

We will be converting our discounted room only reservation to a package with dining about 25 days out and I was told by Disney that we could still keep our room only discount and if I have a problem just ask for Guest Services they have the authority to give the discount :)

Yes, you can add it and if you plan on eating at DIS restaurants during your stay it is a far better value. Dessert is included.

We have already booked the room only offer. Can we add the dining plan to that?

I have done this before. As PP's mentioned, your RO would become a package. But, you would be required to buy a 1-day Base Ticket for each member of your party to create the MYW package and add the DDP. HTH!:goodvibes

We have military tickets already so I don't know if it's possible to add the dining plan. I did some figuring & it looks like the dining plan wouldn't be a good value for us anyway. I calculated if with desserts at every meal. It still came out $100 under what the plan would cost. If we aren't on the plan, we wouldn't eat nearly as much food so I think we will stick to paying OOP. I guess it ends up being a good deal for some people & others it doesn't.

YES military is one of those special groups that can add the DDP even with military room discount and military tickets!!! We would still pay OOP as we don't eat the way the DDP dictates, but it was fun doing it once. You might want to try it just to see.

AP holders can add DDP to a room only reservation, however that class of room has to be available and they are few. Also, you will be paying rack rate for the room most times. They consider it double dipping, but I don't see how since we pay full price for the DDP, never get free dining.

Besides which calling the dining plan a discount is laughable.

When you add the dining plan, your reservation becomes a package. It is actually cancelled and rebooked as a package. Unless you have an annual pass or are eligible for the military room discount, you must also purchase at least one-day park tickets as part of that package. Packages are finalized no later than 72 hours before arrival so you have to do it by then. Since you are eligible for the military room discount, you should ask for a ticketless package unless you want to purchase tickets through Disney.

AP holders do not add DDP to a room only reservation. When they add DDP, the reservation becomes a package, albeit a ticketless package. The reservation is then subject to package rules: $200 deposit, balance due 45 days out, cancellation and change penalties may apply within 45 days.

I was very surprised when I made room reservations & only had to pay $85 deposit with the remainder due at check-in. Since, this is the first time we haven't gotten a package, I guess that explains it. I calculated & the DDP doesn't end up being a good deal for us so we will just pay OOP this time.

Yes it explains it, room only policies are 1 night's deposit, the rest due at check-in, cancellation without penalty I think up to 6 days before arrival.
