At our middle school the DJ played it at our last dance. It started off as a slow dance but people just got tired...it's somewhat of a long song. Good song, no doubt, but long.

Honestly - at the junior high and high school where I grew up - this was the last song of the night. And it was THE make out song. If you were lucky enough to have had a BF/GF - you danced with person and were sure to suck face almost the entire time  . Or if there was a certain someone you were trying to as they say now-a-days, "Hook Up With", this was the song for you to ask or hopefully be asked by...

Same here! This was one of the 2 make out songs we danced slow too. Stairway & "Always & Forever" were alternated for last dance, but both were ALWAYS played.

I seem to remember them not being long enough! ;)

Aren't 7th & 8th graders of today too young for this kind of stuff?? :confused3

I tried. It was pretty pathetic. It was one of the only dancable songs at my Prom. My Prom sucked!

i organized my 20th high school reunion some years back, and we sent out questioneers for the program, etc. we asked everyone what there favorite song from their "youth" was and the wonderful d.j. we had managed to play all of them during the course of the night. 'stairway to heaven' was mentioned over and over. we played it as the last song of the night (thought let's be honest-it was a popular 'slow dance song' all those years back because it was looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong :teeth: ).

Yep we danced to it. It was a nice long butt grabber :teeth: . I recall it being standard fare at every dance I went to or played at in the 70's.
