We are hoping to get 4 nights at VB at the 7 month window for next March. If not, and we are at BWV (our home), can we drive to Vero Beach and check it out, perhaps swim at the beach while my husband, the baseball fan, goes to a spring training game? We tried to add on, but no luck for now. Thanks for any help.

Some have been allowed access at VB while staying at WDW, others have been turned away. I'd call and speak to a supervisor or manager (better) and get their name if they say it's OK. I'd hate for anyone to drive the two hours and be turned away. The beach is public but access is the question. Good luck.

There is a public beach/park right next to VB - it borders the resort on the north side. IIRC, it's called Wabasso. It even has lifeguards, so it is actually safer to swim there. I also seem to recall some restrooms and changing room facilities as well as picnic tables and grills. You do have to go down stairs to get to the ocean/beach. Anyway, you could swim and hang out there while your DH goes to a ballgame if you are denied access to VB.

However, I can't imagine you will be denied access to any of the VB facilities except the pool if it is busy. The restaurants and Green Cabin Room are public and access to the beach is not controlled. I'm sure if you just wanted to check out the lobby area and the restaurants, you wouldn't have a problem. I do recommend a PS if you want to have a meal though.

Best wishes -
