Can we talk about March?

We have never been in March. We typically stick to Nov/early Dec or Jan/Feb.
We are getting AP's this year and would like to see the Flower and Garden Festival. Unfortunately, we can't travel the first weekend in March (seemingly lowest crowds for that time of year). We can travel the second weekend though. With Easter, Passover and Spring Break in Florida (we are FL residents) not being until mid-April, can anyone tell me what we can expect crowd-wise in early/mid March?

Thank you!

I think early/mid March would certainly not be terrible for crowds since most schools seem to have late March/early April breaks. We actually planned a trip the week leading up to Easter weekend with only 3-weeks notice last year, and I was worried I was making a terrible mistake going--extremely high crowds, etc. We actually thought it was much more manageable than we anticipated, but we are also early morning people who entered MK at 7:00am to take advantage of low crowds in the morning. I actually preferred it to October when we have fall break--the parks don't open until 9:00am and most people are getting to the park when you do.

We go in March almost every year and find it manageable. It's not a low crowd time but it's also not a holiday/summer crowd time.

We were there early March this year, maybe second week. The weather was perfect and the crowds manageable.

The first week of March will be great, crowd-wise.

The second week (starting March 11), is predicted to be crowd level 9. It's actually one of the busiest weeks of spring break - due in large part to he fact that most of Texas' public schools all have spring break that week.

Yes, with a good plan it's "manageable," but expect summer-level crowds. Fortunately, the weather is usually great, which makes any crowds much more bearable.

ETA: Crowds should be a little lower if you could travel later in March. The second week will likely be the busiest week of the month.

We are 6 months away from our THIRD late Feb/early March trip! We went in 2011& 2012, headed back in 2017 for the same week.

Crowds are lower at that point, and the weather is usually nice. In 2011, we had unseasonably hot temps for the first half of the trip, but other than that the weather has been very mild and pleasant.

The other perk for us is baseball- we are Tiger fans and their spring training venue is less than an hour away. Going at that time of year allows us to head on over to see a spring training game. We may not make it this year- might do Kennedy Space Center instead. So, if you happen to be baseball fans, there might be a team you like playing nearby- I think the Braves actually train at Wild World of Sports. It's kind of a nice midweek break IMO.

It's our march break in Canada too. We did it before and it's busy but if you have a plan you'll be fine.

Yep, Texas Spring Break. We have been during that time twice. It's less busy at the beginning of the week and gets busier as the week goes on. Both times, 2015 and 2016, were busier than our trip about a month ago. There weather is really nice though, and so is Flower & Garden. Just have a good plan. Hit rope drop. I would go again in a heartbeat, but I don't seem to have problems with crowds.

What about March 20-24th? We live between San Francisco & Sacramento and have our spring break that week, although many of our friends/family in the neighboring districts don't. We have a 9 night trip planned with the hope that, while it's still Spring Break, it won't be as bad as the week before or after Easter (which is our traditional break time when Easter is earlier).

Does anyone know if there are other large areas with breaks from the 20-24th? I'm glad to know about Texas the week before, so we can expect Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th to be pretty busy (I would guess).

Thanks!

It won't be as busy as Easter, but I think it might be about as busy as the 13th-17th. Not all schools in Texas have break at the same time. Most seem to have it the 2nd or 3rd week in March so either 6th-10 or 13th-17th. However, other places start having Spring Break as you get later into March and April. Touring Plans shows 6 for most of the 6th-10th, 9 for 13th-17th, and 8 for 20th-24th.
