I was looking at Rogers Cable web site, but cannot find it. Anyone can subscribe Disney Channel?

I leave in a suburb of Montréal and i`ve been asking Bell expressvu,Videotron cable and they say it may be offered soon. That was 2 years ago !!! :rotfl2:
still waiting for it. The closest we get is the Familly channel wich offers 40% Disney material...

So if you know how to get it let me know...

The family channel owned by Astrol Entertainment has the canadian rights to most of the Disney Channel programming and broadcasts it on their channel in Canada.

This is one of the many channel carried by Rogers - In Toronto it's channel 51 - my children love it.

It is highly unlikely that you will ever see the actual Disney Channel in Toronto due to CRTC regulations.

Apparently 51 is a channel that most people have.

(Can you tell DH works for Rogers)

Hope this helps

I am also interested in Family Channel, as long as they have Playhouse disney.

Do I need to have digital cable (personal TV) in order to subscribe to Family Channel? or Regular cable TV is fine as long as I pay the extra charge? I just checked, since DH has the cable plus package including CNN, but not channel 51. I lived in the Richmond Hill area.

You may try going to a local computer store and inquiring about the FTA
(Free to Air) satellite box . You can pick up DISH TV from the states which has all of the Disney and Nickelodeon channels. Not to sure about the legal status of FTA.

Another option is to subscribe legally to DirecTv or DISH TV by using a US address. However Ted Rogers won't like it.

those dishes are not legal here if you have to buy in the states.

DH is not here right now but I do not think you need a digital box - just the channel package that includes 51
When dh returns from pick up at Brownies I will ask him

You definatly don't need a digital box. We're with rogers (non digital) and we've always had the family station. It's just one of the channel theme pack add ons or whatever they call them.

Free to air is perfectly legal here in Canada you can buy the recievers just about anyplace even your local mom and pop copmputer stores and many of the sat stores now offer them. They can pick up Dishnet and a multitude of other types of sat signals there is no legislation on tehm like they are trying to do with the actual Dishnet systems and Direct systems you purchase and pay for out of the US. This will allow you to watch the Disney channel East and West and Toon Disney and also as stated all the Nickelodeon channels. The recievers can be purcahsed for about 200 dollars and all te software you would need to get them running is online at www.abadss.com and www.al7bar.tk. You can't go wrong and you can even get European services with the FTA recievers.

Hi,

I stayed in Richmond Hill - using Rogers Cable. I just upgraded to Ultimate Pak Plus, I think Family Channel is 48?

Yea, every region has a different channel numbers, for me it's 51 as well, but for others it could be 48. Check with your local cable company.

I get channel 51 but I personally would prefer to watch the Disney Channel. I am 14 and still like to watch 51 if they get new episodes...

I just purchased a free to air satellite in Fredericton. Has awesome programs. My 10 year old is nuts over the disney stations and Nick stations. All kinds of kids movies too. I purchased mine for just 129.99 in Fredericton at a computer store. Great programming..... 1000+ stations!

How does it work? You may $129 for a satellite, and self installation? Do you have to pay monthly fee to subscribe to the programmes? In other words, do u still need rogers?

Once you buy the receiver. You download the programming off the computer. I had someone do it for me for 40.00

It is quite easy to load...but I was just a little nervous. Some of the receivers are already programmed too, so you may not have to do that.

You don't have a monthly fee, cause it is in free air space. No regulations yet. You can research on the internet by just looking up FREE TO AIR SAtellites.

My favorite station is Lifetime Movie Network....all dramas and most true stories.

Oops....you won't need rogers! You'll also pick up Canadian TV with an extra dish!

On this commercial for satalite TV they showed that you could get Disney Channel but I think the commercial may have been American.

There are Disney channels, both east and west, Nick, toon and several family networks. HBO family, ABC family etc....

Free to air picks up both American and Canadian programming
