My BF and I are going down to see my dd, shes a cm at epcot. We are on ddp and i've made most of our ressies for 3 people. I don't eat much, i had gastric bypass several years ago. Could I share with my dd? I know i can't at the buffets and such. Talking about like the wave and rose and crown.:goodvibes

I don't see why not. They will just charge you the number of credits based on what you order. Why should they care who eats the food? :)

Yes you can. We have used the standard 5 times now and have shared many a TS meal. Even at a few Signature choices. Just let your server know you are sharing. Shouldn't be an issue.

We've shared both on and off the DDP and no one ever cares. Most of the time they split the food in the kitchen and bring it out on separate plates...:)

I take it your daughter is not on the dining plan.

Disney has a rule against using your DDP credits to provide meals for people who are not on the dining plan. Technically that applies if your daughter doesn't order anything and eats her full meal off your plate.

This thread brought up a question I have as well.

We are heading back next month for a week long vacation and it will be myself, DH and DD8 and we have the Deluxe Dining plan. Each meal my DH and I will receive appetizer, entree and dessert...which is a LOT of food. My Mother is going to join for two days in the middle of the week and I have included her those days in our dining reservations. She doesn't eat much, and I thought it would be OK if my DH and I shared our food with her, with her ordering a small salad, soup, or fruit plate and beverage which she would be paying OOP for. Would this be considered wrong? :confused3 I don't think she will want an entree at each meal, but I am sure she would like to "sample" a few bites of our entrees and appetizers....

I don't want to break any rules, but I don't want to waste food and money either!

If she orders something, I don't think anyone will have any objection if she then eats some food from your plate. The caution, if one is needed, is probably against using your credits to provide an entire meal for someone who isn't on the plan.

That makes sense, and is kind of what I was thinking. I'm sure she will order a beverage and maybe an app or fruit plate or something, but I just didn't want to get into trouble!

We used 2TS credits a few weeks ago at Via Napoli for a large pizza, shared with another person not on the DDP, but she ordered a separate salad too. Did not have a problem sharing our pizza.

I think the OP is correct. If the non DDP person orders someting small I doubt the food police will care if he/she eats something from your plate. You just can't order a complete meal for them with your DDP credits, or have them sit there and order nothing while eating from your plate.

We did that on our last trip without any problems. My mother joined us for the last two days of our trip without any dining plan, and she ordered one course (generally an appetizer or salad but with instructions to the waiter to bring it with the entrees) and shared the rest with us.

How does sharing at Via Napoli work with the dining plan? We're going to have one day where we'll want a lighter lunch in between character breakfast & dinner, and I was thinking if we could use 1 or 2 credits for something for all 4 of us to share that might be a good time to try Via Napoli.

The breakdown at Via Napoli is:

Individual pizza, drink and dessert - 1 credit
Large pizza, 2 drinks, 2 desserts - 2 credits
1/2 meter pizza, 4 drinks, 4 desserts - 4 credits

(It appears these are adult credits and I believe you would need to have at least that many adults on DDP at the table. It also appears children's credits are still used only for the children's menu. But you should ask when you get there if children's credits can count toward sharing a larger pizza.)

i find this thread helpful since i plan to travel with spouse and child. all will be on DDP and we are going to Jiko. i was planning to use my 2 credits for the meal and then spouse was just going to order 2 apps for my spouse and child to share and then use their TS credits at another place. as i read this, you would just let your server know you are OOP for apps...and of course liquor.

At many of the al a carte places, DH and myself would split the dining credit to save some for 2 credit meals.

He would order the dining plan meal and we would each order an appetizer a la carte.

We would have our own appetizer, split his entree, and split his desert.

We are doing the same thing for a couple of days next month. DH and his Brother are going for a full week of free dining, guys only. Some work travel requirements have presented themselves, so I can be down there with them for a couple of days. It so happens they have al a carte meals planned for the nights that I'll be joining them, so DH and myself will purchase appetizers, and he'll order his DDP meal. Once again, we'll have our own appetizer, split the entree and split the dessert.

We also tend to order alcoholic drinks with dinner so we're paying out of pocket for those too.
