Was wondering if we go to Animal Kingdom, are we able to go and see the fireworks at night with no extra charge?? Or do you have to be at MK to see these??
Thanks

You won't see any fireworks from AK, it would scare the animals.

You can go to the beach at the POLY or you can see them from FW. You can also see some of the Illuminations from CBR. As well we had a 3rd floor room at POFQ and we could see Illuminations from there, but you must be facing the food court area.

You could go to the Contemporary and go out on the observation deck, they pipe the music in and its rarely crowded. It's the best view outside of the MK and you don't have to have ressies or pay anything to see the fireworks from the deck. It's an awesome view that not very many people know about.
Have Fun!!

Last I heard, you could only go up there if you had reservations for the restaurant.

We have been to the observation deck at the Contemporary... here's what we did.

Take the bus from Down Town Disney to the Contemporary, then go 1 floor below where the Monorail track is. I think the deck is on the 4th floor where the shops are. Go to the end of the building facing MK... open the door and there is the deck. It has a few steel benches facing MK to sit on and speakers for the music. It is almost as good as being in the MK for Wishes.

Enjoy!

I was just there in November and went 2 different nights and I did not have to have a ressie. Plus we have been up there soooooooo many times before without any kind of a rsv. Don't go to the 4th floor you don't have near the view as the 14th floor it is absolutely breath taking.
It is, again, like no other view you will ever experience anywhere of the MK fireworks.
Have Fun!!

There is another observation deck at the Contemporary on the 4th floor which anyone can go outside on to watch Wishes, so it's nothing like the one at the California Grill where you need an ADR to go up there.

You don't need an ADR to go up to the California Grill. I always go up there and they have never asked me if I had an ADR. Can you show me on the Disney sight where it states you have to have an ADR to go up to the CG?

You must have went during an off time because if you read the restaurant board or do a search about the California Grill, everyone says ADR's are a must when going there. Also since it's a popular location they take your credit card number and if you don't cancel the ADR with in 48 hours they charge you a certin amount depending on how many guests are listed on the ADR.

ADR's are a must if you eat there but you DONT have to have an ADR to get to the observation deck so I will tell you this, you keep going ONLY when you have an ADR and I will be the one who walks in and goes to the observation deck without an ADR to watch the beautiful MK fireworks.

Well I also read if they are not busy they will let you up there to watch the fireworks, however on nights when they are busy then the Cast Member will tell you no.

Whatever, you just can't accept the fact that I have been there no matter what time of the year (busy or not) and have always walked right in and the cm has never given me grief about it like I said, show me where it says you have to have a reservation to go out on the observation deck. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Now you are changing your story (LOL) and saying that if you ask they will let you out on the deck, make up your mind? Before you were saying you had to have an ADR, now you say if you ask they will let you out on the deck unless they are busy.
FYI: when I was there in November it was the week before Thanksgiving and they were packed and on a wait, I stepped off the elevator and went right to the observation deck (even asked a cm if it was ok) unmolested and enjoyed the MK Wishes Fireworks show. You can argue all you want, but, the point of the matter is it doesn't hurt to ask if you can watch or just go to the CG and go out on the deck and watch they, more than likely WONT give you a hard time.

We have been up to the top observation deck a number of times without reservations. They can refuse you entry to the elevator (which is really for the Cali Grill) but probably won't if it isn't too crowded up there.

We usually plan to go up a little early, maybe an hour to half an hour and go have a drink at the bar first. You don't need ADR's for that.

The official line if you call ahead is that you need to have a reservation to get in the elevator. We always just go to the counter and ask and have not been refused.

I have never thought about going to the top of the CR to watch the fireworks but it is something that I will plan to do. Thanks for the info everyone, but lets not get to personnal about peoples replies.

We watched the New Year's Eve fireworks from the Poly Beach and they were spectacular...... the appear "over the castle"

The view from the Poly is especially nice when they enhance the fireworks for one of the nighttime extra ticket events. We've seen it twice, I think Pirate and Princess party...there are a few extra ones that fan out across the horizon. Very nice view from the beach.
