We're wondering if we can get a ride on Supershuttle from LAX with no reservation in case we miss the Disneyland Express bus and don't want to wait another hour. Has anyone done this?

I've never done this, but based on the SuperShuttle website, it appears that you can probably ride it without having a reservation. The language is very clear at the a reservation is required for DLR to LAX, but it only says "preferred" for LAX to DLR.

That being said, I'm not quite sure if it would save you all that much time. In my experience with SuperShuttle, you still have to wait for dispatch or the curb side agent to call for the shuttle. It might be different going to a major destination, but you might contact SuperShuttle to find out the details of how it would work without a reservation.

There are several shuttle options available at LAX without having a reservation. I've used both Prime Time and Super Shuttle...they typically have an agent just outside baggage claim and they can help you.

Thank you - this is good to know! Which would you choose between Prime Time and Supershuttle?

Yep anyone can. You can make reservations but its not necessary. Shuttles are coming and going all the time. Ive used them from LAX and SNA many times.

I've had the most consistent service from SuperShuttle, but honestly, just go to the shuttle station and let them direct you into a shuttle. All of the companies at the airport station seem to be comparable in my experience.

ETA: Which is to say that you will occasionally have a disappointing experience with any of them. Supershuttle's track record for me has been the best, but I've also used them the most. If you have a bad experience, you tend to avoid that company in the future :)

At LAX, there are about half a dozen SuperShuttle loading zones with dispatchers outfitted with handheld devices scattered around the various terminals. All you need to do is walk up to the dispatcher and tell them where you're going and they'll assign you to an arriving van. It's actually a better option than reserving, because if you reserve then you can't change your pickup time without two hours notice.

This affected us on our most recent trip, because we had reserved in advance but had the opportunity to stay at our hotel later. When we called, they said we couldn't reschedule because we "had already been assigned to a van" and that if we hadn't reserved, we could have changed our pickup time. It was really annoying and we decided never to reserve again.

From the airport it's okay, but from your hotel it might not be easy to get one last second

That depends on the hotel. I wouldn't worry at the on-site hotels. On Harbor, it's probably a different story. We were staying at DLH and the SuperShuttle vans seemed to always be arriving.

Thank you for all this info! I'm glad to know we have these options.
