We'll be crossing paths with friends of ours - they leave the 9th around noon and we arrive the same day early that morning. They are staying at the Poly so will be around the hotel waiting for ME. We are staying at SSR but will be driving in a rental car so it's possible for us to get to the Poly quite easily.
What are the policies regarding parking at a resort - are we going to have any issues at the gate?
TIA!

When we have driven over there for breakfast, our name was on a list that was checked by the security gate. Even then they only give you about 3 hrs. to park before you are suppose to leave.

So even if you're staying at another Disney resort they only give you 3 hours to park?

I thought resort guests could visit any Disney resort with no parking problems due to the a pass they give you at check-in?

Is this true for all resorts?

I have been there to visit before - just pull up to the guard shack and tell them your plans -- often they give you the parking pass AND it says good for three hours on it BUT they will leave the time blank.

It should be fine.

Doesn't matter where you are staying. You are really only entitled to park at the resort you are staying at. But, with that being said..most resorts don't have an issue with other guests parking at their resort parking lots. But, it's the Epcot and MK resorts that have an issue. Lots of people, both Disney guests as well as off-site guests, will try to park at these resorts in order to get to a park more easily. That's where the issue lies. Can you imagine what would happen if a ton of people decided to just drive to the CR, park their cars and then walk over to MK?? Easier/quicker than waiting for Disney transportation. But, not really fair to those who are paying to stay there.

So, to the OP...you should have no problem. I would actually suggest you park in the TTC main parking area and then just walk over to the Polynesian. It's a quick walk, about 5-6 mins, and easy. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about moving your car if/when you head to a park.
Or, just take the MK bus from SSR, and then hop on the monorail at MK or take the ferry to the Polynesian.

So long as you are not planning on going to a park to visit after you see your friends, you shouldn't have a problem. They will let you 'visit' the resort, even without dining ressies. Like mentioned, you will have a timed parking pass.

Thanks all so much! We'll try parking at Poly and if he turns us away we'll go to TTC parking (smart thinking!) We'll only be there an hour or so.

For only an hour, you shouldn't have any problem. Explain to the gate guard what you are doing and even suggest that you need a three hour parking pass. And then, of course, be out of there within the time limit.

We just did this only my friends were at Pop and we were in SSR. We were always allowed in with no problem. I can see where it might be more problematic at a MK resort.

I agree with traveliz, no problem. Be sure to have a picture id with you and Dl.

the OP didn't mention what time of year he's visiting. Except for real busy holidays, you shouldn't have a problem.
