Can we order it our way?

Will probably be on the dining plan for 14 days next summer, and would like to know if we can order the meals (T.S) ie without dressings, cheese etc without to much trouble. We are English and love American food but sometimes the food has a little too much dressing for DW & kids

There are a few exceptions, but at full-service restaurants, you can almost always rely on having such special requests happily satisfied.

The exceptions, though, are notable. Some items are prepared, as-is, in advance, and aren't available in a modified form. The one that we keep bumping into around the country is Caesar Salad, which is very often dressed long before service, and for some reason some restaurant cannot create a romaine lettuce salad on short notice. (Perhaps they make the dressing fresh, and simply don't keep any around.)

Thanks for that, Changing the subject I had smoores for the first time this summer it was great, Wheres the best smoores to be found at WDW?

50s Prime Time Cafe has a great S'mores dessert.

i too don't like a lot of dressing and sometimes can get that in a package on the side but i know some places the salads are premade and you have to take them as is ie cheese( I hate cheese on salad so this is priority to me ;)) or what ever included. and some ts places (like Ohana,WCC) only have one choice of dressing. I don't know if they could get something else but it isn't offered normally. from what i recall a lot of dinners didn't come with a salad, but only an entree and the salad was ala cart. so you might want to eat salads at more cs type meals.
the best places i found to get what you want along those lines are places where the salads are prepackaged ie the to go places at resorts, then you can pick off what you don't like before dressing them youself. i think some of the buffets also were assemble yourself or at least gave you a few choices to pick from.

Not only at Disney World, but at most American restaurants, you can get things "your way". I can't remember the last time my husband actually got a meal exactly the way the restaurant intended to serve it. His salad cannot have tomatoes on it (sliced are fine since he can give them to me but if they are chopped, then he's not happy so it's easier to so "no tomatoes"), he needs extra dressing, he doesn't like any sauce on his meats, etc, etc, etc. My mother-in-law, in the 24 years I've known her, has NEVER gotten salad dressing on the salad - it's always been on the side. And I will combust if a green pepper contacts any food of mine. We've always been accommodated at any restaurant.

The last I checked, the longest that you could order a package with dining included was 10 nights.....

I've found Disney T.S. restaurants to be quite accommodating with requests to have items "held" or put "on the side." Just be very clear with your server as to what your desires are. I ordered the meatloaf dinner at 50's Prime Time and asked that they put the gravy for the mashed potato on the side. When the entree arrived, everything was on the side -- the delivery server spent some time joking with me about what a "picky" eater I was.

There are ways to get around that. If you change resorts it is considered a new ressie and therefore you are eligible for a dine plan w/a purchase of at least one base priced ticket; the regular stuff still follows though...everyone on the package has to have the same type of everything.

You don't even have to change resorts. We're going for 12 days and they made it for a "continuing" stay to let us get the dining plan for all 12 days. Our 7 day passes were split--6 day passes for the first reservation (10 days) and a 1 day pass for the continuing 2 day reservation. We were assured we wouldn't even have to change rooms halfway through the vacation.

That 10 day limit thing is only when you're trying to book online. Call the CRO and they'll let you book for as long as you want.
