I understand that with the paln you get the one table service meal per night which includes; appetizer, entree, dessert, non-acholic beverage and tax & tip. However can you really order anything off the regular menu.

I noticed that some of the appetizers can range from $4 up to $10 is there a range you have to stay in. Also same question for the entree. If we eat at at a restaurant that has entrees from $15 up to $30 are we restricted as to which ones we can order.

We have always been AP holders and been on the DDE but we are thinking of getting the dining plan because we like to have a sit down meal everynight.

So it looks like we would save a lot by going with the dining plan (but who really knows).

Thanks

From what Ive heard, there are very few exceptions. (For one beverages may be limited to a soft drink or milk or juice (for the kiddos))Enjoy:thumbsup2

For the most part, yes, you can get anything. There are 1-2 places that exempt a couple of items - you can go through the FAQ for details. But as you are looking and planning, assume everything is covered - including the $10 apps and $30 entress.

If you usually have one TS meal per day anyway, you will absolutely save some money on food. If you skip buffets and family style places and pick only the more upscale restaurants, you will save a LOT of money on food.*

And there are very, very few items that are not included. These are almost always clearly marked by putting them in a separate section on the menu, or noting that they are designed for 2 people to share. At Le Cellier, you can order the $5 bowl of cheese soup appetizer, or the $12 crab and salmon timbale appetizer. At Cap'n Jacks, you can order the $17 chicken breast entree or the $32 twin lobster tails entree. Some people thrive on being able to find the most expensive restaurants and only ordering the most expensive items just to get the most value out of the DDP.

We initially had the same concerns you did, and would not have gone with the DDP if it restricted guests to a separate menu. We did once, and now can't imagine going without it.

*If you're used to AP discounts, you may not get as good a deal on the rooms, but many people find that the savings on food more than makes up for that.

There are a few exceptions, but as the menus continue to change those items are also disappearing. I do know that the "kitchen sink" is not included at B&C. There were some exceptions on deserts at LeCellier, but 2 people could share and forgo 2 separate deserts. The servers are wonderful and will answer all of your questions and make recommendations. Keep in mind that the rules and guidance for one restaurant is seldom the same at the next restaurant, so you need to check each time.

We did not find any restirctions on what we ordered, but then we didn't go to any of the really high end restaurants. We are going to Le Cellier this trip so I will be curious to see what happens there. The only restriction we really had a hard time with was that kids can only order off the kids menu. This was fine for the 4 year old but the 81/2 year old didn't always like his choices and would have preferred something on the adult menu

the extras aren't included. Things like the light-up ice cube drinks. At Wolfgang Pucks Cafe, the sushi appetizer is counted as an entree. The Kitchen Sink isn't included, but at some places 2 people can order and share a sampler dessert like at Le Celliers.

We were able to do a lobster add on if you got the steak dinner at Capt Jacks, DS was able to get the mussels at Le Cellier, so they really only have a few restrictions.

Thanks for posting this as this will also be our first experience with DDP(August). We have done DDE only in the past.

Wondering if the fries(Mcdonalds) fries at Animal Kingdom can count for a snack, or is that too expensive a snack? I do see a place that sells these fries at Animal Kingdom listed for snacks on the DDP, but am not sure if the fries are considered a snack on the plan. Does anyone know for sure as DS LOVES an occasional McDonald ff. Thanks!!:)

Oh I am so sorry, I just got my answer.l I just saw the list of confirmed snacks at the top of this dining board and yes DS favorite fries were listed. Thanks!

we got the shrimp and scallop add ones with our steaks at Spoodles. We ordered shrimp cocktails for appetizers.

The add-ons weren't even on the menu at Spoodles last Tuesday.
