After 2 years of trying, we FINALLY were able to get a dinner reservation in Canada - unfortunately, it's at 6:30 pm on the same night we have an illuminations cruise booked for (we need to check in at the Yacht Club marina at 8pm for an 8:30pm cruise). Do you think we'll have enough time for dinner? Also, do you think if we check in really early for dinner (like 5:30pm), we might be able to get seated a little earlier? What would you do? :confused3

If everything goes well, you should be fine. I would swing by as soon as you can to see if they can get you in earlier.

If you are seated at 6:30, you should be fine. But you may be seated later than that. I was there last october when the entire dining reservation system went down, and it took us an hour to get our seat. Things like that don't happen often, but they can and do from time to time.

If things are slipping, you'd have to decide to skip dinner (or cut it short) to make your cruise. Since the cruise costs money whether you show up or not, that is probably where your priorities are going to be.

Good luck.

I agree ... get to LeCellier early. After you're seated, explain to your server what your time constraints are. Fortunately, you don't have far go go from Le Cellier to the Yatch Club ... a fast trot should get you there in just a few minutes!

Yup, get there early, as PPs have said. You should make it in time though either way, thank goodness for the International Gateway! :thumbsup2.

Even though you check in at 8pm for the cruise, you do not actually load onto the boat that early. So even if you are running behind, you can send the one person who is going to pay for the cruise over to get in line at the window to pay (which opens at 8pm). Because after that is taken care of, you will still be standing around for a good 15 minutes before the boat captain gathers you up to get onto the boat.

PP have all good pieces of advice - show up early!!! I'd say even 5:30-5:45 - ya never know how early they'll take you, and if time gets to be an issue, send someone over to pay while the rest of the table settles up. I find that you can guide your servers to pace your meal appropriately - tell them you need to move quickly and they will. It is a really nice stroll to the Yacht Club through international gateway, or if you get lucky with the timing, you might find the boat waiting for you when you head that way. I'd do the walk either way though - you can set your own pace and the boat doesn't save that much time unless you are a really slow walker.
