We are going to be checking out of the ASM on a Saturday. However, we are going to be going to one of the parks until around 2:00 and then heading home. We plan to ride the buses on the other days, but would we be able to leave the car at the resort that morning and still ride the bus? We're going to check out before we leave for the park, so we would no longer be officially registered. But since check-in time for the incoming guests is not until 4:00, I figured there would be no harm since we would be gone before they got there.

I am 99% sure you are allowed to use the parking till midnight of the day you check out.

That way you can go to the parks on the last day! They will hold your luggage too so why not your car?

We've never stayed onsite before, so didn't know about them holding your luggage. Would it be safer for them to hold it rather than have it sitting in the car all morning?

YES! Per every Disney CM I have ever asked, You can leave your car parked at the resort the morning you check out if you are going to a theme park that day. We load all our luggage in the trunk area of the car so it is unseen. We also leave the resort ID on the dash. The latest we have come back to get our car was 8:30pm. We have never had a problem.:D

I would have bell services hold it. There have been cases of cars broken into and luggage stolen.

If you can get all your things all in your trunk where it would not be seen, that is what I would do. You will be tired when you get back from the park and it will be one less step.

But, the bell service will be happy to keep it for you. They give a receipt with the number of bags on it. Just give it to them when you will return and they will retrive your things. It is funny to peek inside the room and see all those black bags and colorful Disney shopping bags!

Trouble is we have a van, so there really isn't a trunk. We'll probably just leave everything we them to be on the safe side. That would be a horrible way to end a vacation.

We do this every trip -- usually until park closing time. Then we drive just an hour or two toward home. We always leave our stuff in the van and have never had a problem.

BTW, all the resort's amenities are yours to use until midnight on your checkout day. You can even use your room charge! They will, of course, charge your credit card.
