Can we give some props to US Men's Gymnastics?

I know we already have a thread about the Olympics, but I think this deserves one of it's own, because the US Women's gymnastics team is getting TONS of press, but the men get nearly none at all, and they have pulled off a remarkable finish.

The US Men's Gymnastics team won the bronze medal last night, the first time the US has medaled in that discipline since 2008. They did it in a unique way, too, bringing in a pommel horse specialist who only competes in that event, and with their all-around star, Brody Malone, making a painful comeback from an injury that doctors initially said might mean he would never walk again, let alone manage competitive gymnastics.

Congratulations to Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Frederick Richard, Stephen Nedoroscik and Brody Malone. These guys really deserve a lot more attention than they have been given; they've got serious grit, and I'm so pleased that their efforts and strategy paid off for them.

That does sound awesome! I haven't been paying attention at all until women's gymnastics was on last night while I was at the gym. I've been looking forward to looking up videos of men's and women's one of these evenings when I have the time.

Plus, that event has already aired in the U.S. NBC carried the men's gymnastics finals a few hours ago.
You know it's ALMOST like today is a work day or something.

My apologies; the medal is a lead headline on all of the Olympic news today, so I didn't think it was a secret, just that they were not getting enough credit for the achievement.
Water under the bridge. Just next time put Olympic spoiler in the headline and save the other stuff for the body.

I'll be cheering for Steve (the pommel horse guy) in his event final on Saturday.

I watched the men's finals live on Peacock on Monday afternoon. They were incredible to watch, so focused, so pumped, so supportive of each other. Knowing Steve N was watching the whole time, waiting to be the last competitor of the last rotation was inspiring; talk about focus and mental strength! It was fun to watch, and they were just as excited as little kids when they realized they'd won a medal!

Now I'm watching the women's final, and all I can say is, so far they look good. It's only the first rotation, so a long afternoon ahead. I'm home recuperating from covid; I feel fine but still have to stay out of work. I get to watch all of the gymnastics events, live- talk about lucky timing!!
