Can we get stuffed in September? A Free QSDP PTR! Update 9/2!

Ok, this morning we're off to the OG.

It's Castle time!

image090.jpg

It's nice with most parks opening at 9, we don't have to get up too early!

So we will eat first at AoA using our snack credits for smoothies! We'll stop to fill our coffee mugs at Everything Pop first. Then we'll get on the bus from AoA to MK. I just can't bring myself to eat at Disney Starbucks :sad2:

I apparently didn't take very many photos at MK in 2008, I will obviously take more this time.

MK is confusing to me, the headliners are scattered all over the park, but nevertheless, we'll go LEFT(ish) at the end of main street!

I want my first ride to be Haunted Mansion! Ahh, definitely one of my favourites and it's been so long since I've rode it.

From there we'll head clockwise, and get to Peter Pan's Flight next.

We'll skip IASW for now ;) but I'm a sucker for Philharmagic, so if we skip it now, we'll definitely be back later in the day.

Then it'll be time to check out NFL! I've already had the pleasure of riding The Little Mermaid at DL, but I will obviously do it again here and I really want to take it all in.

We'll work our way through the rest of fantasyland.

Hopefully we'll have time to hit Space Mountain before lunch, we'll probably have gotten a FP by now.

Lunch today will be at Captain Cooks! K the picky eater will get the nachos :thumbsup2 and the rest of us will eat delicious aloha pork sandwiches, or something else exciting. They have a nice selection of sides too instead of just fries! See the menu here: http://allears.net/menu/menu_chh.htm

We'll probably head back to MK right after lunch to work our way through tomorrowland, starting with the TTA to finish relaxing after lunch, and maybe Philharmagic too! :lovestruc Can't miss the Laugh Floor! I really want to watch Monsters University this week. Is it good? I'm worried I'll be disappointed.

Adventureland! Jungle Cruise is being refurbed, but we will head directly to Pirates!

image093.jpg

And Enchanted tiki room and a dole whip would be a nice afternoon break.

DSCN0510.jpg

Then we'll do Big Thunder and Splash Mountain and see how wet we are whether we need to head back for an afternoon break or take in the attractions we bypassed. I'm going to try and be more of a commando this time, but I do like my afternoons by the pool!

Things I haven't done, but would like to try: Country Bear Jamboree, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, Astro Orbiters!

Magic Kingdom closes at 7, so we won't head back here after our afternoon break, we'll head to the park with EMH for dinner :thumbsup2

Ok, maybe I'm talking to myself, but I wanted to mention that DH was actually into talking about the trip the other night! I think he finally might understand the QSDP. Although he keeps calling CS credits "snacks" so, hard to be 100% sure :rolleyes2

He did say he's into eating good food though, and isn't opposed to doing things like going to the Boardwalk from DHS if it'll be better. And he said that I should write down all the good places we should go, so I don't forget, haha :thumbsup2

He's a pretty adventurous eater now, much better than when we met 8+ years ago! He recently even started eating avocado which was one lingering thing he didn't eat. In fact we had BLTAs for dinner tonight.

Hi, I'm joining in!! We are also going in September (my PTR is in my signature if you want to follow along!).

For DHS CS dinner options, we honestly loved Pizza Planet! I know that's sacrilege because I'm from New York and am a huge pizza snob, but I've always found PP very satisfying.

Your MK plans sound great! Now that Cosmic Rays doesn't do the ribs at lunch anymore, I want to do lunch at Captain Cook's as well! Visiting the Poly is always fun. Hall of Presidents and Country Bears are definitely worth doing at least once.

Yeah! I clicked over to your PTR once, but didn't get to read it and then forgot about it :( Going to read soon!

Good to know that Pizza Planet isn't too bad, since there will be four of us, I can't always make ALL of the plans, so if they want that I won't be too disappointed.

Yeah, we did Cosmic Rays last time and DH and I shared a chicken/rib combo, so I want to try something different this time!

Good to know, I will make a point of seeing HOP And CB!

Joining in!!!! Saw that you had a PTR and decided to drop by!

Where in BC are you? We head out to the Island next weekend for a wedding at the end of the month. I can hardly wait to just go and have some family time.

We're in Victoria! So I'm sure you'll be around my way. We've been having some fabulous weather so I hope it sticks around for you.

I'll be updating right now...

After our busy MK morning, we're going to head to Epcot for dinner and the rest of the evening!

image033.jpg

(Side note: I think we'll probably skip photopass this time to save some money. We'll have another couple to take pics of us anyway... as long as they take photos on command, we're ok!)

I think we'll save Future World for the next morning to start it off early at rope drop. So tonight that leaves World Showcase.
DSCN0644.jpg

No, I don't think we were drinking around the world during this photo! We'll probably arrive about six after a rest and be ready to eat.

I really want to eat at Tangierine Cafe, possibly the only restaurant that will be a repeat from last trip! But it was SO good, and interesting, it's hard to not crave it. And it's also a really good value for a CS credit. Shwarma Platter, om nom nom.

After dinner we'll stroll the world showcase partaking in a few beverages (Grey Goose Slush!) and I have to go to Cava del Tequila, I mean it wasn't there in 2008, so I have to. And I want to try a school bread!

I think this will be a good time to hit up the ghetto fabulous world showcase rides of Maelstrom and Gran Fiesta Tour. Pretty sure these are only still exist due to the alcohol available in WS, no?

We'll visit our Canadian friends, revel in the plaid, question the need for beaver butt soap and pose for photos in front of Victoria Gardens aka Butchart Gardens which is in our city :goodvibes I will travel across the continent to see models of what I can get in a fifteen minute drive from home, ok? Although it does cost about the same :scratchin

DSCN0580.jpg

I will try not to get lost in Mitsukoshi and also try not to spend all of my souvenir money on day 2.

Oh yeah, and we'll watch Illuminations!

Epcot is open until 11 tonight so we'll probably try to go the distance. Our first night we'll only be in a park til 9 or so after Fantasmic, so we can go late tonight. On day 3, the latest park is Epcot again and that's only until 9, so it'll be an early night. Slow season, ya know!

Any advice on hidden gems in world showcase?

I love the idea of using snack credits for smoothies at AoA in the morning!

Did you get to see Monsters University? I haven't yet and I'm dying to!

Isn't it exciting when you finally get him into the planning with you? :rotfl2: DBF always surprises me when I realize he actually remembered something I said to him!

:rotfl2: love the ghetto fabulous description of Gran Fiesta Tour and Maelstorm. You may be onto something with the alcohol theory!

We're not huge WS fans so I don't really know any hidden gems. Although I have heard to be on the lookout for characters-in-training as you might find them randomly with no wait or rare characters!

We have smoothies at home for breakfast sometimes, so I thought it'd work well!

Still haven't seen it, just been so busy! Won't be able to this week/weekend either, have some friends coming to stay with us over the weekend so we gotta clean up the guest room aka junk room before they get here and entertain them once they arrive. Tonight is yoga night :)

Yeah, we should give the guys little gold mickey stickers when they get something Disney-related right, haha.

I remember last time there was a whole corridor of characters somewhere in the WS without many lines! Actually I think all of our character photos (other than character breakfasts) are from WS:

:rotfl2: haha giving them stickers would be fun, although I feel like I'd end up wanting the stickers more lol

Those are some awesome character photos! The lines for the characters with set meeting times were pretty long in the WS in January so I'm hoping to stumble across some of these random characters with no wait!

Definitely sounds like a fun Epcot day! Haha, love the shot of you in China lol.
I actually LOVE Maelstrom-- it's a must do for us haha. Not sure why, we we're obsessed. (Not that we ever stay for the movie.)

Yeah, hopefully we'll get lucky. I like meeting characters, but I don't want to wait too long.

Thanks :goodvibes Maelstrom is just so weird it's good.

I was on Maelstrom one time and the mother in the row in front of me was doing stuff on her iPhone. In the dark ride. You are not only the worst parent ever, you're the worst person ever. I spent the whole ride staring at her bright screen. I should have said something to her or asked the attendant if I could ride again. Ugh.

Ahh! I get it, I'm non-confrontational too. People are so clueless!

Quick update to say that I did my online check-in last night. Not exciting, but one step closer. We decided to request the 50s section again. Hopefully one of the two side buildings and not the furthest one. It's a good section because it's close to Classic Hall/buses and also has it's own pool!

I just looked it up and last trip we were in rooms 3426 and 3427 and they were a nice location. Close to the elevators, on the top floor, but facing the back side of building 3, towards the water so they were very quiet. We could even see Spaceship Earth if we walked a little way down the corridor! Which was obviously exciting.

:cool1: That's awesome that you could see Spaceship Earth last time! I don't remember our room number from January but we were in the furthest 50s building. It still wasn't that far but it started seeming further as the week went on! :lmao:

I think next trip I'm going to hold off on online checkin until closer to my departure date. I was so excited to check in, and then I realized I'm still two months away. It was a let down. Plus the website sucks. How many times to you want me to log in, Disney?

Haha, I get that! The two closer 50s buildings really aren't that bad, but I could see the extra bit of distance being a bit annoying.

Yeah, here in ol' Canada, we don't get the new disney website, we get the old one, and it sucks too, I also have to sign in every time. And it wouldn't actually accept my request, so, yeah...
