I was wondering if anyone knew if we could order food to go at the regular restaurants that are not counter service places. We are going with a 4 and 1 year old and do not want to sit through dinner especially since 1 year old does not eat much and 4 year old is very picky (usually only has pizza) so DH and I wanted to order from ESPN, Planet Hollywood and take it to the hotel for dinner. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks

Pretty much no. The restaurants are not equipped to handle "to-go" service. You might have better luck with those DTD restaurants, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Have you considered Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD?

Could you try showing up and being seated - then getting a take out container if your kiddos don't hold up?

From what I hear - most of the restaurants are pretty quick for service...

I think MAYBE at ESPN, you could do this. The place is rarely busy. Also, all the boardwalk restaurants have the benefit of THE BOARDWALK to take your kids out for a few min if they get antsy at the table. Big River Grille has outdoor boardwalk seating, which is great to keep little ones entertained.

I'd give your kids a chance, though. Bring a toy or something for the 4 year old and baby to play with if they get antsy. I have a four year old that is GREAT at restaurants, so long as there is food in front of him. ;) As soon as he is done eating, though, he is DONE. So, I let him play with my ipod (I loaded a bunch of preschool kids apps on it and he can sit there forever and play with them).

There is always room service too. Or, maybe on this trip, you will just have to stick to CS. You'll figure it out. Our kids are like yours. SUPER picky and VERY antsy at restaurants. We did three TS at WDW when we were there for a week. They did very well, actually. Better than they do at home...

No, you can't - most Disney TS restaurants do not take "to go" orders. (The above poster appears to think you may be able to carry out from ESPN but if you are on the dining plan I would bet that if they let you pay for carryout with a dining plan it will be TS credits)

If you're doing a dining plan you might want to consider the quick service dining plan (unless you're getting the basic plan free)

Similar to what we were told we could do at a few restaurants.......

You are right, they don't take to-go orders at most places there.
What was suggested to us though was to place our order, wait for it to arrive and when it does just to ask for take out containers and box the whole meal up to go. They seemed to be just fine with this scenario as long as we were willing to wrap it up ourselves. We did leave a tip as if we had eaten in restaurant though so don't forget to do that.

We did get to-go from Planet Hollywood two trips ago, but it was in the morning, on our way to the airport the last day, so they weren't busy. You might try calling them to see.

We were able to order take out at Tokyo Dining. Be polite and ask nicely. You never now, but they might say yes.
