Hi

I am a bit miffed, I heard that we are not supposed to drink tap water. I have drank tap water and fountains when I have been to America. Also why do we have ice in drinks? :confused3

I am really miffed, as I have never been told not to drink the water there, as its not Europe.

Any advice would be great, as we are a little stuck.

You can certainly drink the tap water!! It has a sort of sulphur taste and smell though. There are many water fountains in the parks to drink from. In all my trips to WDW neither my family or myself have got any sort of tummy bug. :)

You can drink it, however, the reason we dont is that it never runs cold from the taps (no matter how long you run it for). We use it to make ice cubes though and have had no ill effects! DD uses the drinking fountains at WDW, also with no harm done!

I dont like their water though, it does smell funny and tastes a little odd (they put fluoride in it) but it is perfectly harmless.

Sometimes in a villa there will be a tap in a utility room or outside which will be clearly labelled "NOT FOR DRINKING" but apart from that, its fine.

we always buy bottled water.only because we can put it into the fridge to cool it.but we do drink from the fountains in the parks..

Hiya

Cheers for that. I thought we could, but read in another post somewhere that its not recommended. I have never had any tummy bug whilst in America.

Thanks again,

really apprectiate it

wouldnt drink the water in south america though..... :rotfl2:

I wouldnt want to know what was is in it. Err :scared1:

Normally we but like a bottle of water and once we have finished re-fill it!
not the best thing to do i know but there you go.....
i'm more difficult because i hate plain water!!!! :rotfl:
we have to buy about 6 bottles of juice a day for me :teeth:

We used bottled water (because we could cool it in the fridge) topped up with ice from the ice machine at the hotel, and had our water bottles in insulated carriers. The ice kept the water cold through a couple of fountain refills. Must day we didn't notice any funny taste from the tap water - but we live in London so maybe we're just used to it! Both boys drank it no problems, and younger DS is normally one for orange squash (VERY expensive in US! and impossible to get in parks or restaurants).

Three of the four of us did have tummy bugs but think its most likely due to the recycled air on the plane (although we had them very spaced out)

we also filled a small bottle with diluting juice and any time i filled up my bottle i just put some of that in it......
we bought the diluting juice from a british shop whilst shopping!!!!

the squash is very expensive over there to buy...but when we were in walmart last year we found this powdered stuff (sorry cant remember what it is called) and you just add to water ..hey presto orange juice..

Eldest DS (11) got hooked on the (non-fizzy) lemonade you get in some places 0 is is Kool-Aid?

We got Robinsons squash in Goodings at Crossroads but DH said it was about :scared1: $3.50 :earseek:

We don't drink the water - or even use it in the kettle or coffee maker - purely because we don't like the taste. To me it tastes and smells too much of bleach for my liking. Bottled water costs next to nothing in the supermarkets. Very expensive in the parks though.

I found the water wasn't as bad last year, but I think it depends on the time of year how much they need to add flouride/chlorine. It can get pretty bad.

We do refill our water bottle in the park though. We found small packages of Kool-Aid (powdered lemonade) in the supermarket and found half a package per bottle made for a nice drink.
