Good Morning Everyone! To make a long story short, we are doing a semi-family vacation in May for SWW. Everyone originally going down is an AP holder so no problem there, but my parents decided to bring my nieces and nephew since she has booked the Poly bungalows. With that being said we bought 3 day base tickets(arriving Thursday, leaving Sunday)since its going to be a lower key trip to enjoy the bungalows so we are only doing one park per day.
Thursday -Epcot
Friday- HS
Saturday -MK.
We will be down there during the 24hr MK event which we want to go to, and it just dawned on my last night that the kids may not be able to go without the hopper since we are going to HS on Friday. My question is, when exactly does Disney count the "next day" for base tickets? I am hoping that with going to HS Friday, if we waited until midnight to go to MK for the 24 hr event it would be the "next day" and the kids could get in. It would be perfect since we are going to MK Saturday anyway.

No, that will not work. You will need a park hopper to do DHS Friday morning and then go to the 24 hour MK event.
The 24 hour day runs from 6 am Fri to 6 am Sat.
MK will then close at 6 am and reopen at their normal operating hours on Sat.
Friday's admission to MK will last until 6 am Saturday morning.
After 6am Sat, you will need to use another day on your tickets to get in.

From the WDW website:
Kick off the Coolest Summer Ever with a 24-hour celebration, taking place at Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World Resort!

From 6:00 AM on Friday, May 22, 2015 till 6:00 AM on May 23, 2015, get ready to laugh bigger and scream louder all day and night long. Featuring a selection of popular attractions, shows, Characters and entertainment for the whole family, it’s a perfect opportunity to show your Disney side.

Sorry, but no.

WDW park "days" do not operate on a standard 24-hour clock.
They go by "opening time" to "closing time."

Even when it's not a "24-Hour Event," closing time at a park can often be after midnight.
That after-midnight time is still considered to be part of the "same day" as when the park first opened.

Based on the above replies your safest bet may be to go to Mk on Friday and do HS on saturday, since yoyr kids are clearly able to be at MK after midnight.

Also, I don't know how old the kids are, but it might be a good idea to rest up during the day if you plan on being at MK overnight.

I would skip the 24 hour party. With so many people in the park over Friday night, Saturday should be empty! Instead, plan to be up for rope-drop on Saturday and enjoy the park nearly to yourself until well after lunchtime. On the other hand, if you do DHS on Friday and then park hop to the party from say 9pm to 3am, you'll be too exhausted to enjoy MK until the afternoon or later on Saturday when it will be very busy.
