Can we do this? In regards to free dining...

Can we check in on 10/15-10/17 on a regular rate ( or room only discount if offered) and than take advantage of the free dining from 10/18-10/22) for the remaining of our stay? I am aware this may involve checking in and out twice?

I'm in the process of figuring this out myself with pretty much the same dates! I've heard that you can pick up your tickets 3 days in advance at guest relations, if thats confirmed, I don't see the problem in a room only and then another ressie with the MYW pkg w/ free dining! Hoping a more experienced DIS'er can help clarify.

I've never done this myself but have read numerous posts from more qualified DISers that stated this is absolutely possible - grab tickets up to 3 days in advance & do split reservation w/ free dining on later leg of trip. Of course your meal credits won't be available until you re-check in on 2nd reservation.

We did just as these pp's suggested. For our December 2010 trip, we had 2 nights RO before changing resorts with a package. We picked up our park tickets at AK without any trouble. Just go to any park's guest relations and request early ticket pick up. All I needed to show was a photo ID, but others have reported needing their package confirmation number, so I would have that with you just in case. However, as the pp mentioned, the DDP won't kick in until you check in for the package as DDP credits cannot be accessed early.

Make sure you advise the cast member that's it's a continuing reservation and hopefully you wont have to change rooms. For me, they just ran my new Key to the World card down to me on the overlapping morning. Worked out great!

We did this, but split between two resorts. Cannot comment on continuing room reservation. Room was not available our first day for this option (POFQ), so we stayed one night at CSR with room only discount, then balance of trip on separate reservation with free dining. We were out of pocket dining first day, so remember you will be out of pocket dining until you check-in under the FD reservation (those keys will contain your dining plan).

We followed Cheshire Figment's sticky on the tickets, picking up day early at park guest services. You will need reservation number and identification, fairly easy process. In our case, when we checked in on FD reservation, they transferred our tickets to our KTTW...but have read mixed reviews on here for folks having issues with this.
