Can we do this at BCV - 2BR lockoff to 1BR w/o moving?

Currently we have a 2BR BCV that came through on wait list for 3 nights - hurray!

We then have a 1BR BCV for another 3 nights

Is it possible to have DVC link the reservations - have the 2BR as a lockoff and then simply abandon the studio portion and retreat into the 1BR area so we do not have to move?

Cheers

Maybe. You can request it but you never know. Make sure that you talk to the CM at check in and explain what you want to do. If they can do it, they will make it happen.

I was able to add the 1 BR portion to a studio we had a the BWV's a few years ago after one night in the studio. The next night the 1BR next to us was added on and we didn't have to move. We had to check out and check back in again but it worked fine.

I tried in December to go from a studio to a 2br and back to a studio. Each time I had to change rooms and wait until 4pm to get back in my room after leaving at 11am. Of course there are no guarantees that they can keep you in the same room. I did request it, but they were unable to do it.

Due to the flexibility of DVC, the types of rooms that members are getting, the length of their stays, and their check-in/check-out dates all heavily impact room scheduling.

Since DVC resorts by design are meant to be at 100% occupancy, being able to keep the same room (vacate the Studio portion and keep the 1-B/R portion) would depend on who else is checking-in that day, what type of villa they want, etc.

Let's say your villa numbers are #100/101 (for the 1-B/R portion and the attached Studio)

Suppose someone else checking in wants a 2-B/R. Meanwhile there's another 1-B/R somewhere else being vacated that same day, (call it villa #200), but the Studio portion (villa #201) is occupied by a different member who is not checking out, thus that villa is not yet available as a 2-B/R unit.

So to accommodate the new 2-B/R check-in, you would have to vacate (#100/101) and move to the 1-B/R unit (#200) that was being vacated by the other member. The new check-in would then get villa #100/101.

Now, the other situation would be if on the day you want to change, the new check-in members are (1) a member with a 1-B/R villa and (2) a different member with a Studio. In this case the new 1-B/R checkin could get villa #200 and the new Studio Check-in could get villa #101, and you could remain in villa #100.

Does it all make sense?

So whether you have to move or not all depends on the comings and goings of other members.

Thanks Caskbill - makes sense

I am going to try and waitlist the 2BR for the 2nd 3 nights (will eat up 30 points) in order to have certainty

cheers

We just did the opposite. We were in a one bedroom at OKW for four nights and then added the studio to make it a two bedroom for four more nights. I just confirmed it with the staff when I checked in that the studio would be available to be added to our one bedroom. With your way, it should be easier. You just need to make sure you get a lock off, so you can lock off the studio.

They wouldn't let me do it December 04. I had to move in and out and they did give me a differant room. This past October I just booked a 2 bedroom and let the studio sit empty for one night so I was sure to ahve everything all together!

Thanks everyone

Thanks Deb and Bill for the experience you had - encouraging :hyper2:
