Hey everyone. My wife and I as well as 2 of our friends are heading to Orlando to go on a cruise to the Caribbean from October 10th-17th. Anyways we decided to spend a couple days in Orlando as well so we booked our plane tickets to fly into Orlando on the 7th of October giving us the 8th and 9th to spend in the city. Right now we are trying to decide though what we want to do there and we are pretty much torn between spending the 2 days at Disney World or at Universal.

The question is would we be able to do most the stuff in the 4 parks in Disney World? If we decide to go to Disney I don't wanna feel rushed. However Disney is open longer then Universal and from what i've read that isn't a busy time of year ether. We understand we won't be able to do everything in this short of time. We recently went to the Disneyland Resort in California so we mostly want to do the things in Florida that isn't in California.

Anyways any help or insight you could give me would be great. Is it worth trying to do the Disney World experiance in 2 days or should we just got to Universal instead and come back to Disney when we have more time.

You will NOT be able to do most of the "stuff" at WDW in 2 days. Maybe at Magic Kingdom in 2 days or Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, both in 2 days. Epcot in and of itself would also takes 2+ days to "do most of it".

That said, it may be worth coming to WDW just for a "come and see". That was our attitude last year. (We were there for only three full days.) We didn't see Hollywood Studios.

I came back in Sept from a 9 day trip to WDW, and I still missed some of the sights... I have another trip planned for this Sept for 14 days... WDW is HUGE and like Teknik said, Epcot alone takes 2+ days to experience most of what it has to offer...

Sorry! I had to add the little guys at the top. You'll see enought that you'll have to come back for more!

Ummmmm, no. I have been there 3 times for a total of 26 days in the parks and there are still things I have not seen!!!!!!!! Which is why I am planning our 4th trip!

I agree with PP that you'll see enough to want to come back for more!! But, the dates you'll be there are awesome! EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival will be taking place, and we've been 5 times in October and the crowds are manageable. Look carefully at park hours, MK closing for MNSSHP, etc and go for it!

Im not as doubtful as others. I think you would have to pick and choose, be at the parks very early and stay very late, and be very commando about your touring plans. I think you could see a lot in two days, but everything? Not a chance.

The real question is, and you asked it, Universal or Disney? I know I have done all of the major attractions at Universal in two days, so I know it can be done.

If you like thrill rides, and that is what you are after, then Universal is the hands down choice. However, if you want the Magic of Disney, along with some pretty good rides, I think you can see quite a bit with two days of committed hard touring.

If I were to go on a 2 day adult trip to Disney, I think I would immediately dismiss Animal Kingdom. That eliminates that problem. I think the World Showcase at Epcot is a great way to spend some time together, so Epcot makes the cut.

Between Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom...I think I would go with MK. If you are there for the Disney Magic, thats the place. Of course, if you go with a park hopper, you might be able to see parts of all three.

Good luck.

Maybe instead of buying park tickets-- just go to the MNSSHP one night during your stay and check out resorts during your stay for a relaxing vacation before your cruise

Back in 2004 my mom joined my DH, my dd, and me for 2 days during our 7 day trip. My mom had never been to Disney so we litterally raced her through all 4 parks in the 2 days she was there with us. (I'd been with my cheer squad 3 times prior and then once with my DH....but my family had never been!)

We took her on the 'important' and classic rides, and to meals at our favorite places. Sure, she didn't get to see it all...but to this day she still talks about her Disney trip! She loved it!!!!

One day we hope to take her back to the world and have her take her time through the parks...but to answer OP question....we did it in 2 days and my mom LOVED it!

Disclaimer: this will be my 7th trip and I';m still finding new things to see. Once you go....you'll want to go again, and again, and again, and again.... ;)

We have been there 10 times in 7 years and still have not seen everthing. We love to keep going back because there are always changes and different activities going on. Last year was the first year that we went over on Tom Sawyers Island. Never know it was there. HAHA Well back to your question I think you can get alot in but you will ave to move fast and do quick meals not to much time for a table meal. If you want more of the rides / atractions over trying food. Enjoy that is a great time of the year to go it was most of our trips.

I should've added that when we raced through with my mom we ate CS the first day for breakfast and lunch, with Planet Hollywood for dinner since we had some sort of voucher...then Crystal Palace for breakfast the next day as you just HAVE to hasve one character meal ;) and then CS for lunch and dinner.

Just taking it all in as we walked...well, ran...around the world was what made the trip so fun for my mom!

I took my teen daughter and preteen son last year...spent 5 days at WDW and didnt even see HALF of what was available. You should look into Universal. My teens do commando style as well, so there is NO WAY you can get it all done. Just think, and excuse to go back!!

I agree with peanut, my ds and i have park hopped and hit the major attractions in a weekend and loved every minute of it. just the excitement of running park to park to get in as much as we could was worth it. we are not universal fans at all though. we did the major attractions there in a day and never wanted to go back, just no "majic" there for us. so think it really just depends on what you are interested in most.

If you go with an attitude that you will not be able to see everything, but plan well so you will get to see and do the things you give highest priority to, then you should do it. Especially if you don't think you will be back anytime soon. I'd look closely at the attraction lists and the park hours. I'd definitely rule out all the rides and attractions you have done at Disneyland unless there are a couple that you MUST do again. Look closely at the Fast pass attractions so you can get a fast pass and wait in line for something else then you'll be able to walk right on to the fast pass ride when it's your time. You also might find it quicker to use a car to get from park to park, unless there is a monorail connection. Don't use the buses. Oh about the fast pass, get it and as long as you go AFTER the time on the pass, it's fine. I have never been able to go to the park in a month other than a summer month, so I'm sure you'll avoid some of the crowds. have fun.

My first disney visit was when my daughter was 18 months old. My sister lived on the Georgia/Florida border, and I spent a week with her. We went to Disney for 2 days and managed to do alot. Here was our touring plan...

1/2 day at DHS (called MGM Studios then, and always will be to me)
1/2 day at Epcot

1 night stay at All Star Sports

1 full day at Magic Kingdom. including breakfast at Chef Mickeys.

Animal Kingdom did not exist then, so we didnt need a 3rd day.

But... It is true that 2 days is just enough to make you want to go back for more!

As everyone has said...No way can you do all of WDW in 2 days. The big question to answer is... What are you looking for? As someone else said, if it's thrill rides, you can do Universal in 2 days, no problem. I went for the first time in November to Universal, stayed at the Hard Rock, and had a great time. If you stay onsite at Universal, you can walk to the parks and you walk right to the front of the lines. That's the main reason you can do everything there in 2 days. Disney is in my heart, but I can't begrudge the fun I had at Universal.

If you decide to do WDW, pick two parks for the 2 days and plan ahead what you want to do during those days and you can get enough done to make you want to come back to see the rest. If you can swing it, do the Halloween Party (separate ticketed event). I loved it and I'm not a Halloween fan.

No, and i can say this from experience (got back a week ago from a 6 day trip to WDW). I missed a LOT of stuff (Innoventions in Epcot, Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Toon Town Fair in Magic Kingdom, Rafiki's Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom). Two days would maybe get you through Magic Kingdom, but nothing else. One of my nephews commented that it was too much in so little time. We did 4 of 5 weekdays at the parks, taking a break during part of the day (except for me on Friday the 15th at Hollywood studios, I was NOT going to miss Woody and Buzz, The Incredibles and Mickey) so I ended up staying longer than my sister and my nephews did (they went back early; my niece and brother in law were riding Tower of Terror).
