Can we buy into DVC for $300 a month?

We bought into BLT getting 200 points for $230 a month. $300 is definitely enough to get a good contract. I know that we got a discount for knowing a current member. So keep in mind that knowing a current member will give you a discount.

I have had a couple of folks tell me to use them as a reference. Is this all I need? How does that work?:confused3

In answer to the original question, YUP. We pay about $300 a mo. buying from Disney for 160 points at ALV. That includes monthly fees.

People have waited this long to become owners and they can't wait another month or so to get their points through resale? It seems that they will even pay a premium price through Disney to get their points ASAP. :confused3

:earsboy: Bill

Here I am! :lmao:

Waited ten years to buy in - 2005. Waited so that I didn't have to finance. And had NO INTEREST in buying resale. I wanted no waiting when I made the decision, no potential complications/delays (ROFR) and wanted my points right in my account. :goodvibes

When you use someone else as a reference, sometime Disney will throw them a referral fee. I don't know what current offers are being given, if any.

Just head over to Disney Vacation Club's website (and chat with someone) or call the 800 number. You dont "need" a referral.

And yes, you can buy into DVC for $300 a month if you can swing it.

That's what we're doing (ok more than that now that I have a contract at Aulani too), but our payment at BLT (for 160 points) is less than $300 / month.

And it was very nice to get 2009 points thrown in. That mean twe had 320 points this year -stayed 5 nights in a 1BR at BLT over mother's day (172 points), and are heading back to AKL for 5 nights in a studio in december (63 points). So i'm going to wind up banking 85 for next year's use.

If they live in a state where referral bonuses are allowed, just choose the person you want to get it (I personally would go for the first person that suggested DVC to you), tell the DVC person the referral person's name and city/state, and a few months later the referral person should get a bonus.

There have been times when those that were referred by a current member got an extra discount off the purchase price. AFAIK, right now, that is not happening.

However, the member, as previously noted, will get a small referral reward from Disney, even if there is no buyer incentive.

Just give the name and state of the person to your guide. That is all it takes!

Good luck!

Okay, but just curious. What kind of deals, discounts, and incentives have folks gotten in the past? It's got to be more than just a $25 gift card right? I'm certainly not turning my nose up at a gift card, I'm just curious.

::yes:: We bought 170 points at SSR through Disney and pay less than $250 a month including dues. :woohoo:

Almost a year ago there was a deal where the one referred got some dollars per point off of their purchase. Good deal for the one who was referred, and for the one referring (getting the standard bonus)!

:thumbsup2 I think we got an $8 extra off our points last June for having a referral name and then the referral got a $200 gift card. I think the DIS is particular about posting about referrals...so I will stop here.
