We are leaving Sunday for California. We are flying from Providence, thus a longgggggggggg flight. Can I bring snacks and juices on the plane for my 6yr old twins?

I do not want any problems with security. I am just wondering what the rest of you are doing.

Thanks and have a great day.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

Most of the carriers are encouraging this these days.

A few suggestions on what to avoid--

PB sandwiches--can cause serious allergic reaction to anyone on plane with peanut allergy (which is a LOT of people)

Anything stinky (onions, Mc Donalds/BK, garlic, certain cheeses, etc.)

Anything really sticky or messy. Cotton candy and pasta with red sauce might be things to avoid ;)

Good ideas:

Small yogurt cups or Gogurt
Raisins or other dried fruits, or cut up hard fruits in baggies
turkey or chicken sandwiches
Cookies (except PB)
fruit by the foot
Pop-Tarts
Granola Bars or Rice Krispies Treats
Juice boxes/Capri Sun

Be sure to take plenty of napkins and/or wipes! I'd also like to suggest a plastic grocery bag to put all the wrappers in.

We always bring our own snacks and bottled water on every flight, since the snacks they generally offer are minimal and non-
nutritional.............

The only problem I have run into is if any items are packaged in foil - I had my entire backpack examined because of cereal bars:eek:

We fly often from Providence - get there EARLY!!!!!

Have a great trip :smooth:

The last time we flew I took Lunchables for all of our kids, and we were the envy of the whole plane. My kids ate little pepperoni pizzas, with a drink and a candy, while everyone else on the plane enjoyed a small beverage. On the return we did the same, but added fresh oranges that we had bought in Florida, and packed in my carryon. One of the stewardesses came back and said she could smell the oranges way up front, so we shared with her. It was great!

Great ideas. You are so right regarding the peanut butter. My kids are not allergic to peanut butter, but they are in school with some kids who are. While I always remember this for their school lunches, I would not have thought on a trip. I know some people can have severe reactions.

Have a great day.

Wow. This is a great thread. I am a mom who always loves to bring my own snack when I now the only thing available will be highly over-priced. My kids love those foil wrapped cereal bars,a and now I will remember NOT to pack those. I am also flying out of Providence. Thanks for the tips!

Just unwrap the foil wrapped bars and put them in siplocks, or just have them in a large siplock outside your checked bag so they can see what the foil is as it goes through the scanner. Keep in mind that Pop-Tarts are foil wrapped too :)
