hi,

Just wondering if you stay off site and dont have a car if taxis are an option. If so, how much do they cost?

Thanks

A taxi will take you anywhere - the price depends on where you are staying. Call Checker Cab @ 407-422-2222, and they should be able to calculate a cost from your hotel to different Disney attractions.

Here's something we learned: when you take a cab to the park, you have to pay the ($8.) parking fee as well. My dh was at a conference, and he took a cab to Epcot to meet us late one afternoon. On top of the cab ride (sorry, can't remember the amt.), he had to pay the parking fee for the cab to enter the parking lot to drop him off.

With the Florida specials, it might be cheaper to rent a car if you plan to do this every day.

Yes but its quite expensive-

A cab from the Walgreens on 535 (about a mile from Crossroads which is about a mile to DTD) to the Poly cost about 25 bucks...

Where are you staying?

Most hotels/villas & time shares offer shuttle services to and from the parks...some require a small fee, but some offer it free.
::yes::

When I took the Backstage Magic tour my husband dropped me off in Epcot. We just told the attendant that he was dropping me off and would be coming right back out. We had no problem, didn't have to pay the $8. Maybe we just got lucky??

The person who got charged $8 for the taxi "parking" likely got ripped off.

I can't find the details right now, but Disney charges a yearly fee to taxi drivers to let them operate without paying the daily parking fee. They also offer a monthly alternative, I believe. In any case, the taxis only have to pay once per day anyway - just like anyone else paying to park (you just show your reciept).

In the case mentioned above, where her DH was coming from an outside conference, it may well be the case that the taxi company doesn't regularly go to WDW, but rest assured you will not be charged the $8 by reputable "yellow cabs" in WDW. If you do, report it.

I've only taken a taxi at WDW once or twice. I always think about it, but it's usually easier to just take WDW transport, unless you are going resort to resort. On my last trip I did want to grab one after MNSSHP's a couple of nights, but at that point it was easier to wait for a bus on a bench that would bring be straight to Pop instead of having to get to the TTC first and then transfering to a taxi. Plus, MK and Pop are about as far away from each other as you can get, and I'm sure it would have been pricey.

Quite a few years ago, we missed our free shuttle from Epcot, and had to pay $25 to get to our hotel in the Old town area just a few miles away ( highway 192). Taxis are expensive. We have since learned of the Lynx buses. (public transit). $1.25 to get to the TTC (MK) .
