Last year I bought a Maclaren Quest off of EBAY. Some of you may remember mine was stolen in December right outside of Sci-Fi. So I am looking for another stroller but I am hesitant to buy another Mac from EBAY. I have read they are not authentic which got me to thinking, how can they be authentic and sell $100 less.

My questions are, how do I tell the difference?

Should I just buy one from Babies R Us so I will know for sure?

Or do you know a brand just as good?

My little one will be 5 in September but she has Type 1 diabetes so the stroller will need to be sturdy because of the use it will get.

TIA!!!!!!

Could they be last year's models? We bought our Peg P3 last May for 50% off because it was a 2007 model. We didn't buy it on ebay, but we did buy it from a baby products site (albeebaby.com). Can you take a few weeks and keep an eye out on sites like that for a good price?

Someone stole your stroller?!?!? That's awful... I'm so sorry - that must have been so frustrating. :headache:

I am looking into a stroller now too... I wasn't planning on bringing one at all, but after posting to get some advice, the wonderful people here told me, in a very nice way, that I'd be crazy not to have one.

I like the McClaren stroller too - but can not bring myself to buy another $200+ stroller. I currently have 3 others and I do not use them. They are all too bulky for Disney and the McClaren looks very sturdy and light.

I put an email out to all my friends with kids to see if someone has one and if they might let me borrow it for a week - I offered up my double jogger for the exchange. :worship: I hope I can find one that way. If not I may be buying one, I guess.
Maybe I'll sell the others on Craigslist to buy this one...

Some of us actually LIKE stroller questions- LOL!!!

It depends who the seller is- I bought one off of babye-store.com which also sells on ebay, and they ARE a registered seller of Macs. Ask them what their store name is and check with the maclaren site. Most likely, it's an older model but if there aren't significant changes (sometimes it's just color) you can get a great stroller for a good price that way!!!

Marshalls and HomeGoods have been selling Maclaren strollers. I've seen the Quest for around $150, the Triumph for under $100, and the Techno for around $170. Not sure how that compares to the Ebay prices.

I bought my double Peg from eBay three years ago at a significant savings from a retail store. It was the last year's model, so the price was about $100 less than the current model/color.
I have three Maclaren Triumphs and one Volo. I bought one Triumph from BRS with a coupon and the other from Gap.com's baby section (I couldn't resist the brown and pink polka dots). The other Triumph (exactly like the first one I bought) was purchased for $40 from a yard sale in pretty much brand new condition. The Volo was bought from a friend. I love the Macs. They are sturdy, light-weight, and comfy for the kids.
If you can, check Craig's List and see what's available in your area. You might also want to check out some "better" yard sales or flea markets to see if any are available there.

OH, thank you for the wonderful suggestions.

I did search Maclaren's website but didn't think to search for a dealer.

Just wanted to add that I made a stroller tag with our name and kids pictures on it(I got the main disign off the disign board) and ironed it onto the hood of the top of our stroller- (it is an awesome Silver Cross stroller that would normally cost over $250...I got it on schnoop.com for $75)
...that way none could claim it as theirs since our name and our kids picture was on it...I figured it might at least help prevent theft.
Here's what it looked like before I ironed it on.

I also got a peg perego off of albeebaby.com It was 100.00 originally 300...but took it on vacation and EVERYONE had that same one LOL....but for tht price who woul blame you

most all of the macs are authentic the biggest problem is that the serial number is filed off which voids any type of warranty. the seller mentioned has a website and it is the sellers name.com
