Can two 14 year-olds dine on their own?

My husband, daughter and I are taking advantage of the free dining for the third year in a row. My daughter is even more excited about this trip because her best friend will be joining us. Since they want to eat at a couple of restaurants that my husband and I would prefer to skip, we thought we'd let them eat there on their own. They're both very bright & responsible girls, so there won't be any problems with behavior or figuring out the tips. They've often gone to the local restaurants on their own.

Does anybody know if Disney has a minimum age for diners without an accompanying adult at a table service restaurant? Nobody would think twice about seeing them at a counter service restaurant, but I can't say I've ever seen two young ladies on their own at a table service restaurant. I'd ask the Disney dining people, but the wait time on the phone is too long right now.

They will be fine and well taken care of as long as they have their KTTW card to pay for the meals.

Well I have a 14 year old boy that would love to join them! :rotfl2:

I think they will be fine depending on the restaurant- which ones do they have in mind? I was eating alone in NYC when I was 14 so I don't think it is a problem. And with the dining plan- I think it will be even easier.

No problem at all - my kids have been eating on their own occasionally since they were 11 or 12. Like yours, they were very responsible and were taught at a young age about behaviors appropriate to the venue. For the first couple of times, we actually "shadowed" them, just to observe, and all was fine. They've eaten in TS restaurants ranging from Sci-fi to Teppan Edo to Le Cellier.

Enjoy !

Definitely. On past trips, my DD and her friends have dined alone. I believe the first year they were both 14 and ate together at Sci-Fi - no problems - just make sure they remember to TIP ACCORDINGLY.;)

My daughter's response to this was: Tell him we'll meet him at Sci Fi or Coral Reef the last week of August - and tell him to bring a friend! :scared1:
Yikes! Maybe I'm not so ready for them to go off on their own after all!
