If another member transfers holding points to my account, can I then bank them? Just when I think I understand all the banking, transferring stuff, another question comes up. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the answer to this may depend on the CM you talk with at MS.

By definition, "Holding Account" points cannot be banked and will expire at the end of the current Use Year. In my mind, that means they cannot be transferred, since transferred points may be banked. In some cases, the "Holding Account" points could also already have been banked - which should mean that they cannot be banked, since banked points cannot be transferred.

However, some have resported being able to transfer "Holding Account" points. I'd expect that, if they were current points, they could be transferred, but not banked. If they had already been banked, they should not be able to be transferred (again- it may depend on the CM). The best you might get would be that they might assume your own Use Year and thereby gain some extra months to use them within 60 days.

Regardless, I'd sure check with MS before depending that those point could be banked.

Good luck!

There are no specific restrictions on holding account transfers in the legal paperwork. And while it makes sense that holding account points that were originally banked or borrowed would not be able to be transferred, they appear to treat all holding account points the same. Here is the info I have from MS.
Holding account points can be transferred but would retain the same use year and expiration date as the Member they were transferred from, and would also be transferred as holding account points, retaining the same booking restrictions.
