Can toddlers go on the Africa Safari?

We have twins who will be close to three on our trip. Can kids that age do the Kilimanjaro Safari? (I think that is the one you ride in a jeep, right??)

Yes, they can. I don't believe there is an age requirement. Our youngest was 18 months when she rode. It is a little bumpy at times and there aren't any seatbelts, but we've never had any problems. I'm sure they will enjoy it - it is our favorite thing to do at Animal Kingdom!

They will LOVE it! We took my 2.5 yo and 1.5 yo godchildren a few years ago and they had so much fun pointing out the animals. Just hold on tight to them. Have a good time!

Hope you don't mind a couple more questions on this. Is the jeep or vehicle driverless, how many people fit in one. What if your toddler is a wiggler and decides he doesn't want to be held anymore, is it easy to get off of it. Also, how long does it last? Thanks.

It is a large jeep and it is actually driven by the driver/tourguide. I would say that it holds 6/8 people per row and you would not want your toddler to try and climb out. They don't allow young children on the outside of the row for this reason. It is a wonderful ride and it think a 3yo would definately enjoy it but it does move along quickly so they would need to understand they have to stay seated.

There is a driver and it does not stop. You can not get off until the end of the ride. We took my DD this year and she LOVED it (she's 3). We also took her when she was 1. This year I had her sit on my lap so she could see better.

I think the ride is about 20 minutes long.

If you let your toddlers out, they could be eaten by lions. There's no way to get off once the ride starts. I'm sure they'll be sufficiently entertained so there's no need to worry. The only point that's tricky is when the car goes over the "collapsing" bridge. Hold on tight there.

My son has fallen asleep on it three times as an infant.

DD was 26 mos. when we went last month ––*she didn't want to sit on our laps (very independent!) so it was hard for her to see. But she LOVED the elephants. We sat in the last row and it was easier for her to see out the back. We sat her in between us.

Try to go as early in the morning as possible –– that's when they feed the animals and if it's cooler, they're more likely to be active. We actually had a rhino bump the truck on our last trip.

We had DS on it around 2 months in his infant carrier. It was bumpy for us but he didn't move much in his carrier. At times it isn't much worse than some of the streets around here. He didn't get much out of it but the parents did have a good time.

None of you folks thought the ride was too loud for little ones? I am still debating whether to go on this ride for our next trip. DS will be 20 months old. The last time I went on this ride I recall thinking the volumne on the loudspeakers in the trucks were super high. Maybe it was just my location/truck?

Not that I remember. To me it was mostly just like listening to the radio in the car.

We took our 24 month old last year. They didn't flinch and my dd LOVED it.

Both of my children have ridden it at a rather young age. My son was 6 months his first ride and my daughter was nearing her first birthday. The ride is bumpy so you need to hold on to little ones and you can't let them stand on the ride for their own safety. I don't remember the ride being loud at all -- just a person on a microphone.

When DD first rode it at 14 months, she actually fell asleep on it!! She was sitting on DH's lap and was really excited about the animals but sleep just got the best of her and not even half way through she was peacefully sleeping.

They will be fine! We went May 2004 (DD was 3 1/2) and she loved it! It is bumpy!!
