We had a 9 night summer of 2020 cruise booked. Obviously, it was cancelled. Chose to keep our money in our Castaway account. Booked a 7 night cruise for April 2022. Since there is extra money, plus the FCC, I was wondering if we could use the money toward airfare (booked thru Disney), trip protection insurance (booked thru Disney), and/or for a pre-cruise stay at a Disney resort for a night or two. Has anyone done this successfully? Otherwise, I guess it's lots of shopping, bingo, and tropical drinks!!!! Thanks.

My understanding is you can use extra FCC for anything that can be booked through DCL that is attached to your cruise including transportation and hotels. Or you can put it towards another sailing and take two cruises. 😊 Definitely call and ask.

Yes to airfare and disney resort (if booked through DCL).

On vacation insurance the answer I was given is no. Was told this is because if you were past PIF on your 2020 trip (and I assume you were since you got FCC), that meant could no longer add protection plan for that trip, and now that restriction carries over to the rebooked cruise because it was under the same reservation number and prevents them from adding VPP. You could always ask since we all know if u ask 5 different CMs you’ll get 5 different answers. Plus I was told this a year ago and maybe they didn’t have all the kinks worked out back then.

Also, if by any chance you are concierge, regardless of the FCC issue you can’t add VPP after paying the deposit because the deposit is not refundable.

Yes, you can use the extra FCC for anything booked via DCL, including pre/post cruise resort nights, etc.
